JOB SUMMARY: The primary function of an Engineer is to interpret requirements and preliminary system design of a configurable product from Applications Engineers and produce a design output package that can be used on the manufacturing floor to build product. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interpret design input requirements from Applications Engineering.
- Size and select purchased components and configurable manufactured items that meet the overall requirements of the system.
- Create 3D models of parts and assemblies, general arrangement, assembly, and detail drawings using SolidWorks for new or improved products, and configured products to customer order.
- Prepare bills of material and part master records in accordance with accepted procedures for all assemblies and subassemblies.
- Create documentation package and provide follow-up support for approval of customer submittal packages.
- Release documentation such as component specifications, system drawings (General Arrangements), Bills of Materials, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams, and Operating and Maintenance Manuals.
- Analyzes various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate constructions.
- Evaluates tolerance stack-ups.
- Process Engineering Change Requests to facilitate document changes.
- Awareness of regulatory requirements such as ETL and UL
- Awareness of ISO9000 and commitment to Quality Process
- Support Sales and Applications Engineering in the pursuit of new business through conference calls and travel when appropriate.
- Focus on continuous improvement. Participate in team projects that focus on improving process time, quality, and cost.
- Establish relationships with shop floor personnel in order to provide prompt information and direction to resolve issues during manufacturing.
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Proficient with SolidWorks - experience with sheet metal, complex mechanical assemblies, weldments, and Excel based Design tables a plus
- Proficient with AutoCAD
- Experience with EPDM utilization a plus
- Ability to work well cross functionally, independently and in a team
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Motivated and persistent in meeting project goals
- Time management
- Effective use of Microsoft Office products
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mechanical Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of relevant experience
- Occasional Travel may be required
