Shift: Mon-Fri : 8 AM - 4:30 PM

Job Description:



  • This evolving position is located in the Clinical Services Division with the Health Department. The Mobile Clinic Public Health Nurse may work at various satellite clinics that maybe established within the area.
  • The employee provides professional nursing services, including health assessments and health education to clients in clinic settings, specialized clinics, public meetings and home visits.
  • The employee may provide training to other nursing personnel and volunteers regarding vaccinations and testing for communicable diseases.
  • The employee may provide professional and public education to appropriate members of the community.


Role And Responsibilities:



  • Performing physical or developmental examinations.
  • Generating reports.
  • Evaluating health history and status of client.
  • Documenting charts.
  • Conversing with various persons to give or receive information, or to give instructions.
  • Counseling caregivers and clients.
  • Driving to off-site locations for client visits as needed.
  • Performing venipuncture and collecting specimens.
  • Administering medications and/or immunizations.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
  • Completes required training in support of the duties and responsibilities of this position.
  • In addition, at the direction of the client Chief Executive Officer or designee, the employee will be assigned a variety of specific job duties and responsibilities as a member of the client's Emergency Preparedness and Response Program Team (i.e., Bioterrorism Response Program). Also, as a member of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Program Team, the employee is required to complete all necessary emergency responder training and may be designated as a member of the first-responder team.
  • In accordance with our designation as a PHAB-accredited health department and explicit commitment to a culture of continuous quality improvement, employees will receive Quality Improvement (QI) training deemed necessary by their supervisor.


Working condition:



  • Primarily indoors in a climate-controlled building
  • No smoking or use of non-smoking tobacco products is allowed at any time while conducting agency business or in agency vehicles.
  • No use of cell phones or the use of electronic wireless communications devices used to write, send, or read text-based communication while driving a motor vehicle on agency business.
  • Subject to driving off-site in varying weather to perform job duties.
  • Subject to exposure to infectious diseases
  • Subject to prolonged periods of standing and/or walking.
  • May be required to wear protective equipment.
  • Required to wear a HEPA Filter mask, when working with active TB clients; (in which case limited facial hair is allowed)
  • OSHA category: performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.


Physical Requirements:



  • Arm/hand steadiness and finger dexterity enough to perform procedures such as venipuncture and injections, draft documents and fill out forms, make entries in charts, etc. by hand or using a keyboard.
  • Vision enough to read hand or machine-generated data, instructions, reports, markings labels, etc., and gradation markings on syringes.
  • Flexibility and coordination enough to operate a motor vehicle as needed.
  • Flexibility and strength enough to lift objects weighing up to 35 pounds and move and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds.
  • Flexibility enough to bend over the exam table; stoop to pick up objects from the floor, etc.
  • Speech and hearing enough to communicate face-to-face and via telephone.


Documents Required:



  • Current Oklahoma LPN license required.
  • BLS/CPR.
  • Covid Card.
