The laboratory of Dr. Amanda Dudek in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine is seeking a full-timePost-Baccalaureate Research Intern. The intern will work in a research laboratory that uses CRISPR and mechanistic virology to understand how Adeno-associated viral vectors enter the cell. The Dudek lab values team-work, communication, and organizational skills. The intern will develop a research project related to how divergent AAV capsids that do not use the canonical receptor, AAVR, enter the cell. Required Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a virology, microbiology or molecular biology laboratory is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of the following:
o General microbiologic and cell culture techniques o Standard molecular techniques, including PCR, qPCR, plasmid purification, bacterial transformation, gelelectrophoresis, western blotting o Sterile techniques Desirable Qualifications
- Working proficiency with each of the following:
