Job Description:

Job Overview: The Fabrication Supervisor is pivotal in overseeing the welding operations within a manufacturing environment. This role involves managing the welding team to ensure high productivity, quality control, adherence to safety protocols, and efficient workflow in line with production schedules.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Oversight:

  • Plan and establish work schedules based on production requirements, engineering drawings, and blueprints.
  • Assign tasks to welders and ensure that they have the necessary resources to perform their duties effectively.
  • Monitor production schedules and adjust workflows to meet deadlines and production targets.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure all welding activities meet quality standards by interpreting and following welding procedures, specifications, and blueprints.
  • Conduct regular inspections of welded components to check for defects and compliance with specifications.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Enforce safety guidelines, including OSHA standards, and ensure all personnel wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Oversee the use of welding equipment, ensuring it is used safely and maintained properly.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Training and Development:

  • Supervise the training of new welders, ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest welding techniques, safety practices, and equipment usage.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to welders to enhance skill levels and productivity.

Team Management:

  • Lead, motivate, and manage a team of welders, ensuring a cooperative work environment.
  • Address any conflicts or issues within the team promptly and effectively.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, providing objective feedback and managing any disciplinary actions as required.

Cost Management:

  • Monitor and manage costs related to welding operations, including materials, labor, and equipment maintenance.
  • Optimize the use of resources to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.

Equipment and Technology:

  • Stay updated with welding technology, including robotic welding systems, and ensure their proper integration and operation in production.
  • Coordinate with maintenance for the repair and upkeep of welding equipment.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain records of welding procedures, quality inspections, and safety training.
  • Report on production status, quality issues, and safety incidents to upper management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
    • Deep knowledge of various welding methods like TIG, MIG, SMAW, GTAW.
  • Educational:
    • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification from bodies like the American Welding Society (AWS) is highly beneficial.
    • Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, Production Management, or related fields can be advantageous.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documents like blueprints and weld specifications.
    • Familiarity with CNC operations, Lean Manufacturing, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
    • High attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.

Salary Range $60-$75K
