Summary Responsible for performing echocardiograms and other cardiac imaging studies in diagnosing and evaluating heart conditions. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Perform echocardiograms and related cardiac imaging studies, including 2D, 3D, and Doppler studies. -Utilize specialized equipment to capture images of the heart's structure, function, and blood flow. -Prepare patients for echocardiographic procedures, explaining the process and addressing any questions or concerns. -Prepare detailed reports of the findings for review and interpretation by cardiologists. -Operate and maintain echocardiography equipment, including calibration and quality assurance checks. -Collaborate with cardiologists, physicians, and other members of the healthcare team to provide comprehensive patient care. -Maintain accurate and detailed records of echocardiographic studies, including patient information and findings. Job Description Education Bachelor's Degree Diagnostic Medical Sonographer preferred. Associate's Degree Diagnostic Medical Sonographer or equivalent program with a Cardiovascular Technologist Certificate required . Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No. Licenses and Credentials ARDCS or CCI certification required. Experience Echocardiogram Studies Experience 1-2 years preferred. An understanding in cardiac anatomy, physiology and hemodynamic is required. Skills and Abilities Required: Must possess a high degree of technical expertise with the knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology and hemodynamic. Must have analytical ability to perform and analyze complex cardiac pathologies by echocardiography. Must have the ability of producing an initial interpretation to the referring physicians. Difficult and complex cases should be reviewed with the echo supervisor. Must possess manual dexterity sufficient to work with ultrasound transducer and delicate panels on equipment. Must have a good understanding of equipment function, and ultrasound physics. Must have the ability to interact with understanding with patients and staff for smooth lab flow and genuine cooperation. Flexibility is essential here. Technicians also interact with physicians for the purpose of information. Must have the ability to work weekend shifts. Must be able to perform bedside echocardiograms in intensive care units. Must have mastered all the duties and responsibilities of this job description.
