Job Summary:

The Facilities Technician is responsible for maintaining and improving all aspects of building operations across Maine Machine facilities. This role ensures the facility is in excellent working order by performing inspections, repairs, and upgrades while creating a safe and well-maintained environment. The Facilities Technician will contribute to the continued operation of the organization by actively addressing facility needs and maintaining the highest standards of upkeep.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance and Repair

  • Inspects machines and other equipment to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance (cleaning, check and replace lubricants, Inspect machine, replace filters, check and clean coolant and tanks) on all machining equipment. Verify tolerances and settings are within guidelines.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance and repair (e.g. replace worn parts, repair broken lines).
  • Install, maintain, repair, calibrate, and modify a wide range of CNC machine tools and related equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues, including those related to programming, tooling, setup, instrumentation, calibration, and other errors, using analytical methods.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on CNC and conventional machines and process equipment, incorporating modifications and revisions as necessary and ensuring documentation is updated.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures, including but not limited to LOTO, confined space protocols, fall protection, hot work permits, and NFPA 70e standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of facilities and work areas.
  • Operate and utilize complex electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, recorders, vernier calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, ball bars, laser alignment tools, and electronic levels, as needed.
  • Actively contribute to a team-based work environment, including participation in daily team meetings, professional communication with team members, and openness to new ideas and feedback.

Facility Development and Arrangement

  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
  • Reconfigures, installs, and positions furniture, modular offices, and work spaces (e.g. wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  • Prepares surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, structures, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).

Vendor Communication

  • Solicit bids and quotes from vendors for tasks outside general maintenance requirements.
  • Order necessary parts and supplies while maintaining accurate records of transactions and documents.

Recordkeeping

  • Completing all required recording and reporting forms and documentation accurately and in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and knowledge base of equipment failures and downtime using CMMS.
  • Document actions by completing required logs.

Perform inspection of related records for completion, accuracy, and readability.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Experience operating forklifts, scissor lifts, Polaris vehicles, and hand-powered tools.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and general computer skills in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to perform basic calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Capability to apply common sense to resolve problems and follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.

Work Environment:

The role involves working in diverse environments, including offices, outdoor settings, construction areas, and manufacturing floors

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand and walk for most of the day, performing tasks that require bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, reaching, handling, and lifting.

Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
