Department: 6th Floor Med/Surg- Part Time - Days - Wyandotte Location: Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, 2333 Biddle Ave, Wyandotte, MI 48192 Schedule: 24 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday rotation Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM (2x12 hours shifts) Are you passionate about patient care and looking to grow in a dynamic, supportive healthcare environment? As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being. Working under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you will assist with essential patient care tasks and actively contribute to a positive patient experience. UNIT DESCRIPTION: 6th Floor: The unit is a 48-bed Medical Surgical Unit. The nurses on this unit are multi-faceted and able to support patients through many phases of care. These patients are often being treated for various diseases, conditions and injuries which can include post-surgical patients, patients with acute infectious diseases receiving intravenous antibiotic treatment, those with chronic conditions that are experiencing an exacerbation. We also provide care and comfort to patients requiring end of life support. One thing that makes our floor unique is that new nurses and seasoned nurses can join our team and gain knowledge and skills that will help them to adapt easily to change-a skill that is sure to help advance them in other positions on our unit or give them the experience to advance and thrive in other areas. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Your day-to-day impact includes: Performing routine tasks such as measuring and recording vital signs, collecting and labeling specimens including blood draws, and performing venipuncture and chemsticks. Assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as directed by the RN. Providing compassionate, hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, feeding, toileting, mobility, and comfort. Communicating effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to support seamless care delivery. Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized patient environment. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: To qualify, you'll need a high school diploma or equivalent and one of the following: Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (titles may vary: Patient Care Technician (PCT), Patient Assistant Technician (PAT)). Enrollment in a nursing program with completed Fundamentals of Nursing. Foreign trained and licensed RN who has relocated to the United States and does not hold a Michigan RN license Medical Assistant program (with or without experience). At least one (1) year of experience in an Nurse Assistant, Patient Care Tech, or Patient Assistant Tech, or similar job role. Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) preferred CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: * Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical ability to lift and move patients, supplies, and equipment. Prolonged standing, walking, and lifting of patients, supplies, and equipment. Works in patient care area environments, which may include exposure to communicable diseases, unpleasant odors, acute patient conditions, potential exposure to infection, and hazardous gases.
