POSITION SUMMARY:

The role of the VP - Private Sector Sales is to lead and manage the direct sales team focused on new coach sales to MCI private sector customers. This position is responsible for driving revenue growth, managing key customer relationships, and serving as the voice of the customer to internal departments. The VP Sales works collaboratively across the organization to ensure sales targets are met while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Manage and develop the direct sales team responsible for new coach sales throughout defined territories in the United States and Canada
  • Lead customer relationship management efforts for large accounts, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and retention
  • Perform management responsibilities including hiring, coaching, development, performance management, and rewards for the sales team
  • Serve as an integral part of the budgeting and forecasting process for sales projections and ensure alignment with AOP/LRP goals
  • Review and refine sales compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their targets
  • Provide support to other functions including Marketing, Factory Production Planning, Engineering, and Product Planning
  • Lead MCI's presence at trade shows and industry events as the senior sales representative
  • Participate on select association boards including ABA, UMA, and NLA to enhance industry relationships
  • Develop effective customer communication and marketing approaches to strengthen the MCI brand
  • Provide voice of customer feedback to engineering and product planning teams to drive product improvements
  • Initiate and participate in on-site sales calls/visits with key prospects and customers
  • Participate in new coach demonstrations as well as new coach deliveries to customers
  • Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity to forecast future coach orders and industry trends
  • Prepare regular sales activity and performance reports
  • Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
  • Brand ambassador for MCI products and services
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and industry partners to develop key relationships
    • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time (within the US and Canada)

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Five (5) years of demonstrated consecutive periods of sales excellence in long cycle sales; preferably in the transportation, logistics, parts/material supplier or product development industries
  • Bachelor's Degree strongly desired, preferably in sales, transportation or business administration.
  • Prior experience managing a sales team preferred
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills required
  • Strong business acumen
  • A self-started with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work with minimum supervision
  • Computer skills - MS Office suite
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Valid Commercial Drivers' License desirable (with air brake and passenger endorsements)
