Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide Manufacturing Engineering capability to operational and development Programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem solving skills. Accountable for delivering robust, capable manufacturing process technology as it applies to materials, tooling, part fabrication and assembly.

Job Responsibilities

* Develop, test, and validate thermal spray parameters for multiple coating types

* Program Fanuc robots to support the development of spray procedures for the repair of a variety of aerospace engine components.

* Familiarity with Copper, Cobalt, and, Nickel based alloys for thermal spray applications

* Apply design of experiment approaches to problem solving for effienct use of time and resources while supporting robust process development.

* Create technical documentation and train shop floor staff to implement new or improved production procedures.

* Develop and help maintain best practices with new state of the art thermal spray equipment.

* Collaborate with OEMs for alternatives or modifications to the requirements listed in the manuals. Standardize processes across product types to simplify the process and flow.

* Monitor the industry for cost-effective solutions on modernized equipment and provide business cases for justification of CAPEX approvals. Consistently look for ways to improve the uptime of equipment and present suggestions to the operation and maintenance team.

* Come up with creative methods to make significant product impact and reduce turnaround time. Have a good understanding of the history and established product flow.

* Deep understanding of the inputs and outputs in SAP required to maintain the planning. Have the ability to navigate and extract data to make informed decisions. Maintain the ERP system by standardizing different repairs and actively look to improve planning. Troubleshoot complicated problems before escalating to super users. Monitor and assist other engineers in building their planning in SAP.

* Provide guidance for other engineers to improve ways of working. Actively help operators and solve problems. Assist shop personnel in submitting kaizens and continuously look for ways to improve their processes. Generally help make advanced technical decisions by providing an alternative view of the situation.

* Not only spend time understanding the problem but also actively seek to understand the history and collect data to make an informed decision. Work on their own to problem solve but also work in groups and lead the group by posing questions related to the process. Walk non-conforming processes to determine flaws. Correct and provide accurate and up-to-date documentation describing the problem and solution in a timely manner.

* Often resolve problems at their level with little to no guidance from upper management. Have the ability to gather multiple different functions and discuss any production stoppages or underperforming areas and come to a solution. Lead daily production meetings, actively adding and/or updating tasks and participating in fast-paced problem solving. Be prepared to problem solve or escalate issues to prevent impacting the production line or projects.

* Act as the customer-facing engineers that can answer the customer directly on any technical challenges. Communicate between the customer and keep all respective parties informed on the decisions. Provide full responses at a higher technical level and assist in providing a fast response to keep customers happy.

* Address complex problems through innovative solutions. Implement production planning from original concept through to production, designing processes to a high level of process capability using the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite. Oversee product development, first article development, configuration changes, and build process definition and implementation.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and 7 years of manufacturing engineering experience or 10+ Years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering.

* Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations and/or program requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

* 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering

* GKN experience and/or Aerospace Industry experience

* Experience in an MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) organization is strongly preferred

* Increasingly able to provide technical input at all levels of work

* Identifies and anticipates technical problems and offers solutions

* Drives to complete the job on time and continually searches for better ways of doing things

* Understands situations by analyzing them logically and uses information in a systematic way to identify appropriate courses of action for resolution. Ability to apply complex and non-routine analysis

* Applies knowledge and skills to a range of activities

* Understands the formal and informal structure of the business

Compensation Range

The compensation range for this position is between $100,588 - $125,736.
