The purpose of the Quality Engineer is to provide quality assurance support to customers, suppliers, partners, and targeted departments of the organization. The will do so by conducting

internal audits and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.
Essential Functions

  • Supervise daily operations of the inspection team, ensuring quality and efficiency
  • Perform root cause analysis and implementation of corrective action for process/product related concerns.
  • Assist QA Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality management system.
  • Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen lean methods, etc.
  • Develop training to build quality awareness.
  • Interface with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to production of new products is in accordance with approved data.
  • Support the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
  • Analyze failure and respond with corrective and preventive action plans to satisfy customer complaints.
  • Improve the quality assurance inspection processes and procedures.
  • Ensure timely resolution of supplier failure, issuing corrective actions and preventive actions as required.
  • Manage supplier performance and conduct on-site assessments and audits as required.
  • Manage the calibration system to ensure all tools are calibrated as required and down time is minimized.
  • Maintain and analyze the nonconformance database.
  • Update top level metrics and communicate with top management on the overall health of the QMS.
  • Directs in the creation of the inspection plan for all new parts. This includes the drawings, CMM programs, sampling plans, and control plans.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


Required Education and Work Experience


  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, or a relatedtechnical field is required; a combination of specialized training and relevantwork experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • Two (2) years of work experience in quality assurance/quality control formanufacturing is preferred
  • A comprehensive understanding of quality management systems, regulatoryrequirements, and industry standards (i.e. ISO 9001, AS9100, NADCAP) ispreferred
  • Internal audit and ISO or similar Certification Audit experience is required(AS9100 preferred)
  • Proficiency in root cause analysis, statistical analysis, and problem-solvingmethodologies (i.e. Six Sigma, DMAIC) is required
  • Specialized training and experience conducting continuous improvementactivities is preferred


Other Required Skills and Abilities


  • Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, andtechnical specifications is required
  • Professional written and verbal communication (English) to convey bothtechnical and non-technical information and instructions is required
  • Computer proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel,PowerPoint) is required; experience administering SharePoint includingutilization of workflows and document revision tracking is required;experience using an ERP system is preferred
  • Experience with accurate use of precision measuring instruments (mics,calipers, etc.) is required; knowledge of and experience with the use of CMMsystems is preferred


Physical Demands and Work Environment


  • To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform thefollowing activities with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer
  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including all buildings and the manufacturing areas; occasionally navigating rough or uneven terrain
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally climb steps, stairs, or ladders
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel
  • Constantly communicate verbally and in writing (English) using a phone, textsor other messaging, and email
  • Visual acuity to accurately interpret precision measuring instruments and todistinguish colors to assess and accurately respond to sensors, indicators, and color-variable dashboards
  • Use hands and fingers to operate computer keyboards and peripherals,measurement instruments, and to physically examine manufactured parts


Working Conditions

Work is performed in a combination of locations including offices and the manufacturingshop environment where working conditions vary significantly; the employee will beexposed to:


  • Moderate noise (regularly); excessive noise, hearing protection required (occasionally)
  • Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors and hazardous chemicals or materials (regularly)
  • Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
  • Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, complex machining centers, and other equipment used in a machine shopenvironment (occasionally)



The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye protection, and use of safety footwear is required.
