Job
Summary & Essential Functions:
The following describes in general terms the
purpose and scope of the position. Pick up and deliver products to outsource
suppliers and customers. Run local
errands as directed by Supervision. Build crates and boxes for shipping
product.

  • Builds specialty boxes for any product that does not fit in a standard shipping container.
  • Basic construction capabilities are critical.
  • Must be able to operate power tools in the wood shop, while maintaining a safe environment at all times.
  • Communicates closely with Shipping, OCP/OCS cell, and manufacturing personnel to obtain required crates needed on a daily basis.
  • Employee must possess and maintain a clean, valid driver's license at all times.
  • Safely and responsibly operates a company motor vehicle in accordance with all applicable state and local traffic laws.
  • Maintains DOT Log Book for the Ducommun box truck.Log must be filled in as required and carried in the truck.
  • Receives daily route instructions from Team Leader with input from Supply Chain.
  • Loads and unloads assigned delivery vehicle.
  • Makes daily local and long distance runs.
  • Makes pick-up and/or delivery from/to required suppliers ensuring that all items are properly accounted for and all necessary documentation is processed in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ensures proper care of assigned vehicle(s).
  • Reports any vehicle damages or repair to EHS Manager.
  • Communicates back to Receiving and/or Supply Chain after delivery and pick-ups have been completed and with estimated time of arrival back to Ducommun (Company cell phone will be provided by Ducommun).
  • Reads, understands and works to F-SOP-0230.
  • Ducommun trained and certified to operate forklift. Recertification is required every 3 years.
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in their work area.
  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
  • Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position

To perform this job successfully, an
individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are

  • Employees in this position must be detail oriented.
  • Basic construction capabilities required.
  • Ability to add and subtract whole numbers, common fractions and decimals and multiply and divide in 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of U.S. currency, weight measurement, volume and distance.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Annual baseline hearing test required.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs. with assistance.

Required Experience/Education/Training/Certifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must
possess the outlined experience level, education, training, minimum years of
experience, product or industry knowledge plus any certifications in order to
be considered.

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic construction capabilities required.
  • Employee must possess a clean, valid driver's license.
  • Employee must be able to safely operate power tools for crate building
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications preferred (email communication required).
  • Reads, understands and works to F-SOP-0230.
  • Safely and responsibly operates a company motor vehicle in accordance with all applicable state and local traffic laws.
  • Ducommun trained and certified to operate forklift. Recertification is required every 3 years.

Work
Environment and Safety Equipment Required:
The work environment characteristics
described here are representative of those an employee encounters while
performing the essential functions of the job. Safety glasses, safety shoes and other designated personal protective
equipment as required for the position.

  • Working conditions are approximately 90% manufacturing / 10% driving environment.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is
    usually moderate.
  • Hearing protection is required in designated areas.
  • Safety glasses (ANSI Z87 compliant) required in all manufacturing areas.
  • Fully enclosed shoes of solid, leather construction with a steel or composite toe cap (ANSI Z41 compliant) must be worn in all manufacturing areas, including the Shipping / Receiving areas.
