Overview

Our Nuclear Services Group is seeking a License Renewal (LR) Associate Manager within the Nuclear Power industry to join the team. Take on a pivotal role in leading critical nuclear projects, where you'll manage the preparation of License Renewal Applications and aging management assessments, ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently. As a key technical leader, you'll drive process improvements, collaborate with cross-functional teams, oversee budgets and schedules, and mentor your team, all while building strong client relationships and contributing to the future of nuclear energy operations.

This position can be based in one of the following locations:

    Kennesaw, GA
  • Chattanooga, TN
  • Possibly remote for the right candidate


Responsibilities

Each day brings new challenges and opportunities to lead critical projects that shape the future of nuclear operations. You'll drive the preparation of key License Renewal documents, collaborate with engineers to define and execute impactful solutions, and ensure the team stays on track to meet goals. Balancing technical leadership with strategic oversight, you'll inspire innovation, uphold quality standards, and cultivate strong client relationships-while managing the growth and development of your team.

  • License Renewal & Aging Management: Preparation of Integrated Plant Assessment documents, including development of scoping, screening, aging management review (AMR) reports, and aging management program (AMP) reviews of systems, structures, and components. Evaluate and update time-limited aging analyses (TLAAs) relative to the extended operating period. Prepare License Renewal Applications (LRA), including scoping, screening, AMRs, TLAAs, AMPs, FSAR updates, Technical Specification changes, and Environmental Report (Part 51) supplements
  • Technical Leadership & Implementation: Lead License Renewal Implementation (LRI), including but not limited to schedule development, AMP basis documents, LRI procedure revisions, verification of completed inspections and support for NRC LRI inspections. Implement required improvements to support the extended period of operation (PEO). Prepare proposals for licensee renewal and implementation bids
  • Project Management & Quality Assurance: Serve as the focal point for initial unit contact, collaborating with management, PMs, and lead engineers to define work scope. Direct and assign work to units, balancing activities and ensuring staff applied time meets budget. Maintain responsibility for unit quality, enforcing quality standards. Collaborate with PMs to manage budget and schedule for assigned projects. Assign Responsible Engineer (RE) and recommend Lead Responsible Engineer (LRE)
  • Engineering Oversight & Documentation: Approve engineering documents, certifying design documents per state and local client and code requirements. Support the Chief Engineering Manager in maintaining, updating and executing Continuous Improvement plans
  • Client Relations & Marketing: Lead proposal preparation with input on scope and budget. Develop professional relationships with client counterparts. Assist in marketing the unit's expertise/abilities to clients
  • Team Development & Administration: Identify and promote training opportunities and professional development for staff. Deliver training on license renewal topics. Identify and promote site work opportunities. Handle administrative duties, including time sheet and expense accounts reviews, performance appraisals, and recruitment


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required
  • MS Engineering and PE license preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of related industry experience with 2 years or more of it in License Renewal development and implementation
  • At least two years in prior team leadership positions
  • Experience working in a Nuclear Power Plant environment and familiarity with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) governing codes
  • Excellent verbal communication skills; comfortable and effective communicator with the team, clients, management, etc., choosing the right mode of communication for the situation and relaying the right message
  • Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail
  • Strong coordination and team building skills; demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, divisions, and teams
  • Ability to assess and understand team strengths and weaknesses and adjust the level of support/oversight as appropriate
  • Ability to motivate the team and achieve goals through positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style which is consistent with ENERCON's Defining Excellence fundamentals
  • Problem-solving and general scientific evaluation skills
  • Required to travel up to 20 - 25% of the time to client sites (expected to travel at least one time per month) for project and/or marketing meetings. Activities at client sites may require pre-job briefs and walkdowns at the site, including occasional climbing
