Foley & Lardner LLP is seeking an associate with 4-7 years of bankruptcy and restructuring experience to join the Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization Practice Group in our Boston or New York office. Am-Law Top-100 Law-Firm experience in bankruptcy and restructuring preferred. Law-clerk experience for a bankruptcy judge in a U.S. Bankruptcy Court or other federal-court clerkship is a plus, but not required. In addition to having strong legal-writing, research, oral-communication, and litigation skills, qualified candidate will have significant experience representing debtors, secured creditors, indenture trustees, bondholder and noteholder groups, collateral agents, bidders and acquirers, creditor committees, trustees, unsecured creditors, liquidation trustees, plan administrators and disbursing agents, and other stakeholders in Chapter 11 proceedings, corporate reorganization matters, corporate trust and inter-creditor issues, and bankruptcy and default matters.
The candidate should also have experience (1) drafting motions and pleadings, forbearance agreements, complaints, settlement agreement, sale related documents, including bidding procedures, asset purchase agreements and orders, plans of reorganizations and related pleadings and (2) presenting motions to the bankruptcy court or other insolvency proceedings such as receiverships, and attending evidentiary hearings. This position will involve working with the entire 50+ member Foley & Lardner Bankruptcy & Business Reorganization Practice Group. Candidates with a demonstrated interest in distressed healthcare, senior living, education, manufacturing, and/or working with indenture trustees, collateral agents, bondholders, and tax-advantaged investors is a plus, but not required. We are seeking a well-rounded, dynamic, highly motivated Bankruptcy associate, who is an effective communicator, creative thinker, and has demonstrated an ability to thrive and prosper in complex environments. Top academic and work experience required. To be considered, a candidate must hold a JD from an ABA-approved law school and must be in good standing and an active member of the Bar of the jurisdiction(s) where the candidate is admitted to practice. Timely admission to the state Bar coinciding with office of hire will be a condition of employment. Interested applicants should submit a resume, law school transcript, and writing sample. The expected salary range for this position is between $290,000 - $390,000. Actual pay will be determined based on education, experience, internal pay equity at Foley, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
