Foreman of Sign Shop, PR

Facilities/Skilled Trades Section

Number of Positions: 1

(Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval)

Starting Salary: $52.53 p/h

This position is covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with The Sign and Pictorial Painters Union, Local 830, Bargaining Unit 25 (BU 25). Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid on this position.

This career Trades front-line supervisor is an essential forecaster, troubleshooter, and coordination point for Sign painters, as well as instrumental from the planning through completion of individual and coordinated on-going small to medium construction projects supported by multiple trades groups, the FAA, Operations, and the OMP.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Studies blueprints and project specifications and inspects work to assess project size and scope.

* Prepares work orders and determines resources needed to complete jobs.

* Prioritizes, schedules, and assigns work to personnel based on the extent of work required, priority, and availability of resources.

* Authorizes requisitions for materials, tools, and equipment submitted by personnel.

* Coordinates overtime, inspects work performed to ensure completion according to Facilities, FAA, Operations or Vehicle Services specifications, work schedules, and established quality standards.

* Ensures the proper use of tools, materials, and equipment following work and safety procedures and evaluates performance.

* Works with other trades to ensure efficiency of operations.

* Approves employee time records.

* Maintains work records and prepares project status reports.

* Tests new materials, equipment, and supplies and makes recommendations regarding product/materials.

Additional duties may be required for this position

LOCATION: Chicago O'Hare International Airport - AMB Building

11601 W. Touhy Avenue

DAYS: Monday through Friday

HOURS: 7 am to 3:30 pm

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of a US Department of Labor registered sign painting apprenticeship training program and journeyman status supplemented by two years of progressively responsible journey level sign painting experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications:

* A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.

* Must pass a Ground Motor Vehicle Operating Regulation Basic Driving test (yellow stripe) administered by CDA within six months of hire.

* The candidate(s) selected for hire must pass an airport background check and a Security Threat Assessment (STA).

* APPRENTICESHIP TRAINING PROGRAM CERTIFICATE(S), JOURNEYMAN CARD, RESUME AND A VALID STATE OF ILLINOIS DRIVER'S LICENSE (whatever applicable) MUST BE SUBMITTED AT THE TIME OF PROCESSING.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS: This position requires applicants to successfully PASS a written test / skills assessment test IN ORDER TO BE interviewed. The cut score of the test is subject to change based on standard statistical analysis of test results. The interviewed Bidders who possess the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected by SENIORITY order and according to the CBA rules.
