JOB ANNOUNCEMENT ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER (Project Development) Department of Transportation Division of Project Development Number of Positions:1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Salary: $129,936-$146,376/YEAR (X43) Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CDT on 5/25/2025 Under general supervision, performs supervisory and administrative duties involving the oversight and coordination, construction, and repair of City streets, alleys, sidewalks, curbs and gutters; and performs related duties as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES This position will assist Deputy Commissioner of Division of Project Development with oversight of all city staff and consultants responsible for planning, design and implementation of major capital improvement projects for pedestrian safety, bus transit priority, bikeways, traffic signal modernization, reconstruction of streets and structures, and other related initiatives. Under the leadership of the Assistant Commissioner, CDOT's goals include implementing cross-training of staff, conducting workshops to increase staff's technical capabilities, and implementing necessary planning, technology and workflow management solutions to ensure the systematic and standardized delivery of complete streets design across all major CDOT initiatives. Through these initiatives the Assistant Commissioner will align workflows, eliminate redundancy, improve performance, increase efficiency and productivity, to maximize the effective delivery of complete streets in all CDOT's major transportation projects. Additionally, the Assistant Commissioner will provide direct supervisory capacity to several section heads within the Division of Project Development, including Traffic Studies, Complete Streets, and Public Way Policy. Performs various additional related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Nine (9) years of experience related to the responsibilities of the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including seven (7) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a field related to the duties performed, including five (5) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree or higher in a field related to the duties performed, including four (4) years of work experience related to the position, of which two (2) years are in a supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.
