The Project Manager Intern is an entry level position for SKMM projects and will be trained to support Project Manager I and II in the timely completion of the assigned projects. This position will be provided on the job training and mentorship. On the job training will include learning the role through assisting in project manager responsibilities including directing, maintaining, and controlling project related functions at the operations level. The Project Manager Intern will participate in interaction and presentations to various customer and internal groups regarding ongoing projects, participating in the establishment, design, and implementation of major goals and objectives and assist in performing due diligence on prospective projects with Project Manager I & II, and Operations Director support as needed during the Internship. Project Preparation:
- Working closely with Project Manager I and II, learn to review, analyze, and verify customer project requirements.
- Support Project Managers I and II in monitoring and evaluating the progress of a project to ensure the project is meeting the budget & schedule goals and supply upper management with up-to-date reporting.
- Will learn and be taught how to draft/edit scope of work requirements.
- Support Project Managers I & II to ensure project budgets and scheduling is up to date.
- Support development of written and verbal briefings and reports as required to perform market research and evaluate competition.
- Support vendor and service provider relationships.
- Remain acutely aware of market trends that could impact resource costs and be able to speak to trends and recommendations to change.
- Keep up to date on possible cost-cutting opportunities and partnerships.
- Support the submission of invoices for payment to ensure correct products/services were received at the expected cost and payments are timely sent out.
- Learn the components of the RFQ/RFP process and then support in development of RFQ/RFP processes and contracting.
- When working on a project, will support the review of the project schedule and assist in providing clarity and understanding to the client during the project.
- Learn the process required to support the coordination of project work.
- Participate in on-site inspections, startups, final walkthrough, turnovers, etc. as required for the project.
- Other duties as assigned.
Quality Assurance & Safety:
- Responsible for upholding and adhering to a Safety-First work environment and OSHA guidelines.
- Assists in maintaining vendor management database.
Education |
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Project/Construction Management, Engineering, or Business Management/Administration

Experience |
- This is an entry level position, a minimum of 2 years of education in Project/Construction Management, Engineering, or Business is required

License, Cert or Registration |
- Current driver's license required for driving plus reliable transportation
- OHSA-10 Certification - can be earned during this Internship
- Credit bearing internships can be arranged with coordination between Program Manager, Student, and advisor.

- General understanding of budgets and schedules.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules.
- Ability to build relationships with design professionals, general contractors, consultants, vendors, and CSKT department/customer.

- This position requires the ability to effectively write presentations that will be read by various groups of customers, vendors, contractors, or employees of the organization.
- Successfully perform basic mathematical functions as required in a business and/or engineering setting.
- Possess problem solving skills and the capability to prioritize daily work schedule in keeping with productivity standards.
- To perform this job successfully, the individual should have demonstrated general fluency with computers, software and general office equipment.
