JOB SUMMARY

The Facilities and Maintenance Manager plans, directs, and coordinates all activities associated with facilities and maintenance as related to the repair/upkeep of building grounds, infrastructure as well as process, machinery. This position and department provides the support required to meet the Goldsboro operating plan.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers company policy effectively with minimum employee dissatisfaction.
  • Prepares annual department budgets and objectives. Controls costs within approved budget levels.
  • Maintains adequate staffs with the technical skills necessary to support both long and short term company goals, growth, events, dollars, etc.
  • Assists with the preparation and management of the annual capital budget.
  • Maintains capital equipment records and reviews all capital appropriations to insure they meet company goals prior to submitting them for approval.
  • Keeps abreast of state-of-the-art developments in the fields of facility maintenance and equipment maintenance, and make recommendations for economic, quality improvements in tools, processes or systems.
  • Coordinates outside contractor services for facility maintenance, equipment maintenance, utilities, equipment installation, and facility modifications and expansions.
  • Coordinates facility surveillance and security systems for monitoring of essential utility services, building conditions, and security.
  • Insures that the company is in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and prepares required documents.
  • Provides leadership to departmental employees and motivates them to attain agreed upon goals. Counsels employees on personal development and conducts performance appraisals as scheduled.
  • Directs labor cost studies and analysis for methods improvements, make or buy decisions and for outside work quotations.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of job function, product, and processes.
  • Wide range of technical and managerial skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and use of continuous improvement/Lean methodologies.
  • Stay focused, utilize available resources, and demonstration of good judgment.
  • Able to work well with all levels of employees using fair and non-discriminating practices.
  • Good interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills including written and oral.
  • Create and approve purchase requisitions in SAP.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering/Maintenance or Electronics
  • 5-7 years of experience in maintaining building infrastructure and industrial equipment
  • 2-3 years leading technical staff (i.e. Facilities Engineers, Maintenance)

Preferred Education / Experience:

  • 3-5 years leading technical staff (i.e. Facilities Engineers, Maintenance)













ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Key Working Relationships

  • Engineering organization, including mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and applications engineering groups
  • Operations management, including plant supervision, quality, planning, etc.

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time

Working Conditions

Shop floor and office environment, located on large manufacturing campus. Occasional exposure to potential accidents, routine shop exposure, infrequent company travel.
