Starting salary at $27.51/hour ($57,416/year) plus a competitive total compensation package*!

This Materials Handler is responsible for receiving and inspecting all materials delivered to and from the Economic Assistance Division of the Human Services Department. They will fill orders, stock supplies, and monitor the distribution of materials to their destination. They will also deliver interdepartmental mail and supplies to HSD buildings via a county vehicle and deliver packages and mail to other sites throughout the county. This Materials Handler may be tasked with using hand carts or other tools to move furniture or office equipment around workspaces and/or from building to building. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, packaging, preparing, and delivering supplies, materials, and equipment
  • Taking spot and periodic inventories to ensure amounts are correct
  • Collecting, sorting, processing, and delivering interdepartmental mail, U.S. Mail, UPS, FedEx, or special shipments
  • Assisting in office moves of furniture, computers, and equipment, including assembly and minor repairs
  • Keeping assigned work areas and county vehicles clean and fueled

The ideal candidate will possess many of the following:

  • Experience managing inventory and accounting for supplies
  • The ability to work independently to get a wide variety of tasks accomplished
  • Strong communications skills, both orally and in writing, with the ability to work with varying personalities
  • Experience processing a high volume of mail and meeting time-sensitive deadlines
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to shift gears to adjust to the fast-paced work environment
  • Critical thinking skills, with a solution-oriented approach to solving problems
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
