What you'll do The Health and Welfare Benefits Lead is a critical role responsible for the U.S. and Canadian based health and welfare benefit programs within the Firm. This role will develop, deliver, and administer health and welfare benefits programs that are aligned with the Firm's benefits strategy. The Health and Welfare Benefits Lead is in Southfield, Michigan reporting to the Director of Benefits. Paid relocation is not available.
- Evaluate and implement U.S. and Canadian benefit programs including group medical, dental, vision, prescription, life, and disability among others.
- Act as an internal consultant and subject matter expert for health benefits best practices.
- Analyze claims data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Leverage expertise to recommend new or modifications to benefit offerings, vendors, or plan design to maintain or improve competitive position and/or legal compliance.
- Review policies and procedures for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations such as ACA, ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, and ERISA that impact benefits.
- Respond to complex benefits questions and correspond with vendors to resolve confidential employee issues.
- Document procedures and recommend improvements to streamline processes.
- Oversee HRIS systems used to administer benefits.
- Manage annual Open Enrollment process including benefits HRIS system set up, communication strategy, and execution of benefit elections with downstream vendors.
- Provide training to support benefit program awareness and skills for People team members, employees, and decision makers.
- Assist with annual benefit budgeting process and manage benefit program costs.
- Direct work and participate in performance feedback for more junior team members.
- Assist team members with other activities as needed based on volume (invoice validation and processing, presenting at New Hire Orientation, process enrollments for group health plans, maintain employee benefit files, as needed).

What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree required; Human Resources, Business, Finance, or related field of study preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years of HR experience within the benefits arena; experience with a professional service firm and multi-national experience highly preferred.
- Experience with HR systems, preferably with ADP Workforce Now and Oracle.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and managing benefits plans such as health, dental, vision, life, and disability, etc.
- Experience with managing vendor relationships.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits administration.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English demonstrating a high level of confidentiality and customer focus.
- Ability to interact with employees at all levels in handling confidential information, being mindful to sensitive and personal situations.
- Excellent analytical skills; proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- High-level organizational skills with keen attention to detail; must be able to prioritize and multi-task.
- Ability to work in a team-focused, collaborative environment.
- Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency in a complex and changing working environment.
- Core working hours are generally 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday; willingness to work outside of normal U.S. business hours, and as unique projects/needs arise.
- Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment; physically able to sit/stand at a computer and work in front of a computer screen for significant portions of the workday.
