Job Summary:

As the Manager of Transmission Accounts & Support, you will oversee activities related to transmission load customer interconnection projects, customer engagement, market analytics/reporting and regulatory compliance. You will provide leadership, resources, training, and development for your team to support customers and internal stakeholders in the expansion of transmission-connected load within the CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric electric territory. Your role will involve managing interconnection agreements, internal cross-functional collaboration, providing data-driven insights on market trends and aligning load growth strategies with corporate objectives. Additionally, you will be responsible for identifying opportunities to enhance interconnection processes, driving efficiency and fostering transparency for customers. This role also includes the review, approval and tracking of Transmission Cost of Service (TCOS) charges from ERCOT TDSPs.

Essential Functions:

Communicate strategic direction of business unit staff, and provide guidance on financial and customer issues.

Manage the negotiation and administration of transmission voltage interconnection agreements with large end-use customers and other electric utilities.

Identify and implement process improvements to streamline interconnection requests, reduce delays and improve the customer experience.

Manage the coordination among other Company departments and with external entities to ensure the Company's interests are protected and to ensure implementation of interconnections consistent with contractual terms and conditions.

Manage the development and implementation of finance-related schedules and models to support division financial activities relating to electrical transmission of power within the Electrical Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and exporting power from ERCOT over high voltage direct current (HVDC) ties.

Communicate, advise and share results with transmission, accounting, regulatory, legal, and executive functional areas, as required.

Oversee the development and administration of the annual department budget requirements and provide ongoing monthly variance analysis reviewing periodic reports on activities status, productivity, budget variance, and all significant business issues.

Maintain current knowledge of corporate and departmental policies and procedures.

Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed to adapt to the evolving business landscape, regulatory changes and customer needs.

Basic Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in an engineering or business-related discipline, but degrees in other fields, can also be considered, particularly if combined with experience with transmission system issues providing equivalent development of knowledge, skills, and abilities identified below, and superior communication and coordination skills.

Experience:

At least seven (7) years experience in the electric utility industry, or comparable field, in the design, construction, and/or operation of electric transmission facilities, or comparable infrastructure with a demonstrated record of increasing levels of responsibility; plus experience in the negotiation and/or administration of contractual agreements, and/or implementation of regulatory requirements

Conditions:

Physical Requirements

Able to travel to and enter a variety of transmission customers' sites, that may include sites under construction or operating industrial facilities.

Able to physically comply with Customer's physical safety and access requirements.

Able to travel to alternative Company work locations or other cities for meetings, training, conferences, etc.

Able to operate office equipment, including telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, desktop or laptop personal computer, mobile phone, etc.

Ability to work under stressful working conditions.

Ability to communicate orally in a clear manner.

Ability to hear oral communication either in person or on equipment such as telephone, mobile phone or radio.

Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch and/or reach repeatedly, on a daily basis.

Ability to reach, grasp and move items.

Ability to view a personal computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.

Ability to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Working Conditions:

Able to work indoors in an office environment

Must be willing to occassionally resolve work related issues outside of normal work hours.

May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts.
