Job Description

Position: CAD / BIM Manager

Reports to: Engineering Manager

Education: Minimum - associate's degree in drafting design; Preferred bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field.

Experience: Minimum - 5 years of REVIT experience and familiarity with AutoCad, 1-year of SolidWorks experience is also preferred.

Status: Hourly, non-exempt

Job Summary:

The position of CAD/BIM Manager entails working with engineers and project managers to prepare engineering drawings, generate design documents from sketches and/or marked-up drawings using REVIT, AutoCAD, or any other applicable software for projects assigned. CAD/BIM Manager will also schedule and coordinate work; oversee CAD/BIM work in regard to timelines and budgets; establish and enforce CAD/BIM standards based on national standards; coordinate work with outsource vendors; review shop submittals and RFI's.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

* Knowledge of basic drafting skill and methods using REVIT and AUTOCAD

* Expertise in industry accepted drafting standards

* Effective time management skills

* Experience in managing a CAD/REVIT team

* Experience developing multidiscipline Architectural and Engineering REVIT packages including the Architectural, Structural, and MEP toolsets, preferred.

* Experience coordinating discipline models and perform clash detection.

* Experience developing and managing workflows between software packages.

* Experience developing renderings and 3D visualizations utilizing Twinmotion, Enscape, or similar software, preferred.

* Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required

* Excellent communication skills to be able to interface between all internal disciplines

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external team members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Develop detailed AutoCAD/REVIT drawings from sketches, notes, and other input materials. Develop and maintain project drawing files and library.

2. Complete assignments on time as scheduled.

3. Prepare engineering drawings.

4. Schedule, coordinate and oversee all work for the AutoCAD/BIM department.

5. Take ownership of every project assigned.

6. Be responsible for all content of the drawing and file tree.

7. Check and back check all work before presenting it to the Project Engineer/Manager.

8. Anticipate what will be needed for drawing set including general notes, typical details, schedules, etc. and populate plans without direction.

9. Day-to-day oversight of the work of CAD staff.

10. Provide technical training to less experienced CAD staff.

11. Communicate with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Engineering Manager and HR as needed in relation to CAD/BIM staff.

12. Establish and enforce AutoCAD/REVIT standards.

13. Coordinate and oversee work with outside vendors.

14. Review shop drawings and RFI's.

15. Maintain positive relationships with clients.

16. Implement and maintain company standards for completion of projects.

17. Identify and prioritize tasks necessary to complete projects.

18. Perform tasks or assist in delegating to suitable employees so that they are completed at required intervals and according to company quality standards.

19. Verify that tasks have been completed at required times.

20. Work with the Engineering Manager and Accounting as requested to review billing and make changes as needed prior to distribution to clients.

21. Report status of projects to Project Engineers, Project Managers, Engineering Manager.

22. Track and report budgeted time versus time expended.

23. Assist in allocating work to staff based on employee skills and balanced workloads.

24. Monitor effectiveness and productivity based on billable time in each period.
