Summary

Responsible for the timely and good management of contract drafting and contracting principles to ensure sound management and fiscal practices to manage risk and to control the quality of goods and services purchased across the network. Advises and guides Strategic Sourcing Category Managers and Sourcing Specialists regarding the development of contracts in alignment with network-approved legal philosophies and risk profiles to meet the needs of identified internal customer requirements using a global category view. Responsible for contract template and clause selection, contract drafting, and managing contract drafts during negotiations by coordinating with various levels of employees and management to leverage buying power and recommend appropriate risk management strategies and tactics to obtain desired results. Extensive interaction with stakeholders, leadership, and suppliers is required to ensure that contracts align with sourcing initiatives and legal principles.

Job Duties

  • Participates in the implementation activities for new and existing corporate contracts as well as the development and preparation of complex contracts and negotiation strategies with key stakeholders. Reviews supplier contract language and exceptions to identify potential liability concerns or unfavorable terms which might otherwise negatively affect the network.
  • Prepares, evaluates and executes summaries of all assigned contract initiatives, provides interpretation of pertinent contractual details to correctly enter/represent the contract systematically for network colleagues.
  • Ensures supplier compliance with contract terms in coordination with Strategic Sourcing colleagues and initiates actions to terminate contracts if conditions or supplier performance are not met. Recommends processes to ensure timely renewal of all contracts with the use of the contract repository and completes appropriate GPO contract documentation for timely activation and/or termination of contracts. Responsible for contract continuity and creation within the network's enterprise resource planning (ERP) tool.
  • Ensures that standard methodologies are followed and contract language is specific to network needs and applicable state, local and federal guidelines (i.e. Sarbanes Oxley and Safe Harbors Act) are within network sourcing processes. In cooperation with the network's Legal department, ensures contract compliance with network policies and ensures that Joint Commission Management of Contract Services standards are consistently met when contracting for goods or services.
  • Displays high-quality customer service when researching requests, addressing contract-related questions or problems and when meeting with members of the strategic sourcing teams to review the status of progress against initiative timelines. Develops technical and market expertise in contracting, including knowledge of changes in the industry.
  • Drives continuous improvement efforts and supports supplier diversity and sustainability goals by advocating for diverse suppliers and sustainable options when viable.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Business or equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 years experience in drafting contracts, reviewing terms and conditions, facilitation and negotiation of contractual terms and/or an in-depth knowledge of legal terms. and
  • 5 years experience project management, building strategic relationships, influencing effective cross-functional teams, managing diverse stakeholder interests and expectations.
  • Dynamic influencing, communication, and facilitative skills across cultures and geographies.
  • Strong understanding of technical, business, legal, and commercial concepts.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills and external focus.
  • Excellence in supplier negotiation and both internal and external communication.
  • Proactive collaborator in a matrix organization.
  • Desire to achieve assigned results in a fast-paced environment and be a change agent.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Business (MBA), Healthcare Administration, or other relevant field.
  • 3 years Knowledge of healthcare industry market trends and dynamics or
  • 5 years experience in ERP (Procure to Pay preferred), e-Procurement, and sourcing systems/tools. Problem-solving, financial, and analytical process skills.
  • CMRP-Cert Materials & Resource Professional AHACC - State of Pennsylvania

Physical Demands

Lift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
