The John Chambers College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Business Ethics. This innovative program aims to train a new generation of philosophically-minded business ethicists, fostering rigorous scholarship and teaching excellence. The program is designed to support early-career scholars in developing their research portfolios, teaching expertise, and professional networks in the field of business ethics.

Responsibilities



  • Research: Publish or make significant headway to publish an article in a top-tier journal such as Business Ethics Quarterly, Journal of Business Ethics, or Business Ethics Journal Review during the fellowship.
  • Teaching: Teach a 1/1 course load (one course per semester) in business ethics or related fields, with the opportunity to develop and deliver field-specific courses.
  • Professional Development: Participate in a visitor series featuring prominent business ethicists or management scholars each semester, who will advise fellows, review their work, and facilitate professional connections.
  • Program Contribution: Contribute to the program's goal of active research and teaching contributions in business ethics.


Program Features



  • Mentorship and Networking: Engage with distinguished visiting scholars each semester to receive feedback on research and build professional relationships.
  • Funding: One year appointment with possibility of reappointment dependent on funding and performance for a maximum of three years.
  • Expected Outputs:


    • Links to all articles published during the fellowship.
    • Author details, titles, and abstracts for any articles awaiting publication.
    • Share syllabi with the broader business ethics community for courses developed and taught.
    • Summaries of professionalization activities, including conferences, workshops, and other relevant engagements.



Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications



  • PhD in ethics, philosophy, management, economics, or a related field, conferred by the start of the fellowship.
  • Demonstrated potential for high-impact research in business ethics, with a strong philosophical foundation.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence and curriculum development in business ethics.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment.


Required Qualifications



  • PhD defense date scheduled in ethics, philosophy, management, economics, or a related field, conferred by the start of the fellowship. A JD is acceptable.
  • Potential for high-impact research in business ethics, with a strong philosophical foundation.
