University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory, Department of Music Job Description
Teach general education classes with a music focus, undergraduate music history classes, graduate period and genre courses, research & bibliography, and graduate seminars in areas of specialized interest. The UMKC Conservatory seeks people who will help build the future of education and research in the performing arts. We seek faculty who demonstrate a growth mindset, with an understanding that learning is an ongoing process. We seek faculty who believe that art has the power to help us understand ourselves, each other, and our culture while empowering us to move that culture forward. Qualified candidates will engage in work that appeals to, and positively impacts, the global population. They will work strategically in ways that adapt to the opportunities in their regions, and work within frameworks that embrace transdisciplinary possibilities. This position is a 9-month, full-time, benefit eligible, unranked/non-tenure track academic position. Qualifications
Evidence of a successful and innovative approach to music history pedagogy as applied to a university setting; demonstrated ability to work effectively with both graduate and undergraduate students and to support students of diverse identities and experiences; Ph.D. in Musicology or Music History (ABD considered, as long as degree is completed by time of appointment). Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the individual's particular combination of education, skills, and experience, as well as organizational requirements.
