Your Impact
In this role, you will oversee our global Regulatory and Client Service Compliance to foster a culture of compliance and ensure our Firm adheres with all regulatory requirements. You will design sustainable and flexible solutions and processes that will be applied horizontally across pillars and regions.
You will be responsible for building, shaping and driving a robust and comprehensive approach to regulatory compliance matters, partnering closely with senior leaders within the Legal and Risk & Resilience functions, as well as our broader Firm. Accordingly, you will be responsible for owning and overseeing programs and activities across all regulatory areas including, but not limited to, anti-corruption, trade and sanctions, anti-fraud, anti-money laundering, mergers and acquisitions, government and securities, antitrust, privacy, conflicts of interest (incl. personal investments), center of excellence (diligence and continuous screening), and FinalDocs.
You will lead and drive the regulatory compliance agenda which includes the continuous evolution of the program based on our Firm's risk profile. You will also provide internal visibility to the ever-changing nature of the regulatory landscape and ensure appropriate enhancements to our ongoing programs and activities as needed.
You will support the enhancement of tools, standards, and metrics on regulatory compliance matters (e.g., dashboards, systems, testing) and ensure geographic compliance leads have a holistic, integrated understanding of the relevant and specific regulatory areas for their regions and deliver expertise and guidance as needed. You will also provide input on the development of our broader capabilities (e.g., learning, communications) as it relates to regulatory compliance.
As a senior member of the Regulatory and Client Service Compliance team as well as our E&C function's leadership team, you will be expected to be a key contributor and thought leader within the function, in addition to driving key organizational, operational, or strategic initiatives, as relevant.
You will be required to engage in regionally focused initiatives, such as infusing our integrity agenda, under the direction and coordination of our regional E&C leaders, the purpose of which is to raise awareness of and further our Firm's E&C program, and other agreed-upon supporting activities in your region or location.
Collaboration is a key aspect of this role. You will collaborate with a cross-functional and senior stakeholder group (e.g., Legal, Risk & Resilience) across our Firm in a timely and efficient manner. You will collaborate with our Deputy General Counsels and our broader Legal function to understand our legal obligations for specific laws and requirements pertaining to complex regulatory issues. Furthermore, you will articulate our regulatory compliance obligations to internal and external stakeholders, serving as an expert advisor to the broader E&C community and other stakeholders (e.g., Firm functions including Risk & Resilience, and Partners). You will also lead interactions with regulators, such as the Department of Justice, where required.
Additionally, you will lead a high-impact team of experienced subject matter experts focusing on specific regulatory areas and programs to deliver against priorities, supporting their growth and development needs through processes such as review, recruitment, and coaching.
Finally, you will play a critical role in sustaining and evolving our E&C program and upholding our commitment to integrity and lawful practices.

You will be part of McKinsey's Ethics and Compliance (E&C) function and will be based in North America. The E&C function's mission is to manage risks to our Firm, our clients, and our people, while also enabling our Firm's client impact and innovation. The E&C function is a globally integrated team within the second line of defense of our Firm. McKinsey has an E&C program that is structured in a way that ensures that it is well designed, empowered to function effectively, and works in practice. Our E&C program includes a clear message that misconduct is not tolerated as well as policies, procedures, training, monitoring and consequence management to ensure the program is well-integrated into our Firm's operations and workforce. This opportunity works in the Regulatory and Firm Client Service Compliance, which is responsible for building and enhancing E&C programs to ensure our Firm adheres to regulatory requirements.
This role reports to the Global Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer (Global CECO).
Your qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree(s) and/ or applicable professional certifications (e.g., Juris Doctor or CPA) preferred
  • 10+ years of deep experience in regulatory compliance matters and broad compliance experiences in large, global organizations
  • 5+ years of experience in building and driving broad, global regulatory compliance programs, especially in a highly regulated industry
  • Extensive experience serving as the primary lead with regulators
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills in English, with the ability to adapt messaging for different audiences and craft cohesive storylines and communications
  • Leverages highly credible expertise to provide a clear perspective on multifaceted issues and influence others
  • Operationalizes complex priorities across stakeholders to drive impact, develops and communicates a compelling vision, and inspires action
  • Builds trust-based relationships with senior leaders and collaborates generously, becoming a sought-after key thought partner
  • Demonstrates a strong entrepreneurial drive and ownership mentality to resolve ambiguous problems
  • Exhibits exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to drive global projects to outcomes in cross-functional areas and complex topics
