Job Title: Sr. Manager, Procurement

Position Overview:

The Senior Procurement Manager is a highly engaged manager who leads by example and is a strategic, savvy negotiator-able to drive results while preserving strong, collaborative vendor and industry peer relationships. This role is pivotal in holding vendors accountable to contractual commitments while maintaining collaborative, long-term partnerships. As we modernize our systems and embrace AI and ERP transformation, this leader must inspire and guide a team through change with confidence, resilience, and clear vision. This role is central to defining and executing a forward-looking procurement strategy that drives enterprise-wide value. You will lead the procurement team's transformation, identify continuous improvement opportunities, and ensure successful change management as new systems and processes are introduced. Your decisions will influence financial outcomes, operational efficiency, and long-term supplier partnerships.

Location: Hybrid, Downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Responsibilities:



  • Champion the execution of the enterprise-wide procurement strategy aligned with business transformation goals, reporting directly to the Chief Procurement Officer.
  • Drive performance against clear objectives and KPIs, leading a team to develop and execute effective category sourcing strategies.
  • Foster strong, trusted relationships with internal stakeholders through deep understanding of their needs, delivering procurement value that supports their goals.
  • Work with teams to lead high-impact negotiations to achieve cost savings, mitigate risks, and ensure clear contracts while strengthening relationships with strategic vendors and upholding goodwill and accountability.
  • Serve as a transformation leader for procurement, playing a key role in the adoption of AI tools and new ERP systems that enhance strategic sourcing and operational efficiency.
  • Govern and optimize procurement operations across MRO, Engineering & Construction Programs, and Corporate Services (IT, HR, Legal, Property, and Transportation).
  • Collaborate with accounts payable and IT to optimize and streamline the procure-to-pay process.
  • Elevate team capability by providing mentorship, coaching, and tailored development plans; instill a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
  • Modernize procurement policies and procedures to reflect industry best practices and evolving business needs.
  • Ensure supplier due diligence is done consistently, implement supplier improvement initiatives, and drive supplier performance and diversity.
  • Develop and execute supplier risk management strategies by monitoring external policy changes and market trends and proactively adjusting procurement approaches to mitigate risk and ensure continuity and financial stability.
  • Work with demand planning to ensure supply availability with key vendors for capital projects, customer commitments, and unforeseen storm or trouble work.
  • Lead and refine the Supplier Relationship Management program, ensuring alignment with contract terms, performance standards, and customer expectations.
  • Translate spend analytics into strategic opportunities that improve compliance, reduce risk, and unlock enterprise value.


Education/ Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business, Engineering, or Information Technology required; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of procurement and category management experience along with overseeing end-to-end procure-to-pay (P2P) operations with 5+ years in people and teams' management roles.
  • Experience in the energy and utilities industry a plus.

  • Deep familiarity with ERP systems (Oracle preferred), e-sourcing platforms, and spend analytics tools.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Proven track record of leading and building high-performing teams.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead teams to achieve defined results on schedule.
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects to meet critical deadlines.
  • Superior written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Effective project and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • High emotional intelligence, with the ability to understand and effectively manage interpersonal relationships.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with other department leaders to develop, implement, and manage strategic and operational initiatives.

Scope: Primary focus is on day-to-day management of operational execution, also develops and exercises business plans, policies, and procedures. Contributes to proactive planning exercises of management team as requested. Trains and develops staff. Plans the workflow. Looks for areas of process improvement and directs available resources to accomplish this. Leads changes and implementations for direct team as pushed down through the organization.

Supervisory: Typically manages a narrower area (multiple business units) or critical function or function managed requires a broad area of expertise. Or/ Managers managing a single business unit with a greater risk exposure. Or/ is the third level manager in a production based on transactional environment.

Decision Impact: Resolves problems of a greater complexity than the former. Improves existing processes & systems using conceptualizing, reasoning, & interpretation skills. Solutions require through understanding of business strategies and issues. Defines broad based solutions that would require consideration of wider implications on organization results & resources.

Hybrid Work: Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.

*To support onboarding and a deep understanding of our operations, the incumbent will be expected to work onsite at least three days per week during the first sixmonths. After six months, a minimum of two inoffice days per week is required, with the understanding that additional onsite presence may be required as business needs evolve.

Storm Roles: All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company. Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc.

Data Governance: Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
