Your Opportunity as the Maintenance Mechanic
This position is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production processes and facility equipment according to safety, predictive, and preventive maintenance systems to support the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.
Location: Topeka, Kansas
Work Arrangements: On Site- Normal work schedule: Saturday- Monday 8am to 4pm. Flexibility to work additional hours and schedules are required.
Reports To: Warehouse Operations Manager
In this role you will:
- Maintain product safety and quality and legality for storage and distribution of product in accordance with the J.M. Smucker company quality policy and standards.
- Continuously monitor and physically inspect equipment
- Diagnose problems when machinery malfunctions
- Operate welder, band saw, lathe, drill press and all types of hand held power equipment
- Perform repairs, adjustments and overhauls equipment and document the encountered problems, to include but not limited to: all repairs on forklifts, conveyors, slip sheet devices, maintenance equipment and other warehouse power
- Perform preventative maintenance related work as required
- Dismantle and reassemble machines to fit or replace necessary parts
- Conduct electrical repairs (per training and certification)
- Repair/fabrication of equipment
- Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area.
- Conduct maintenance in a manner that promotes safety.
- Support and abide by the company's safety program and all safety initiatives, policies, and procedures.
- Report issues and problems to management.
- Wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate with job tasks and areas
- Complete work orders
- Responsible for instilling Smucker's Basic Beliefs and Our Commitment to Each Other.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Minimum of 2-4 years of building/facilities/maintenance mechanical experience
- Possess 3 years job-related work experience in the maintenance of high speed manufacturing equipment to include mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and PLC programming.
- Proven ability to communicate and comprehend specifics regarding equipment malfunctions; visual ability to identify equipment problems; computer skills for ordering parts and troubleshooting.
