The Director, Commercial Leadership Development will build strategies for developing talent which incorporates current programming, recommendations for future programming and is integrated with Ferring's business and people's goals. This position will work closely with brand leadership, sales leadership, human resources (US and Global) and business unit trainers to identify, create and deliver training programs.

This leader will develop and use in-depth sales/management training curriculums and certifications related to field experience while also supporting the integration of Global HR Leadership Development programs. This position will provide live, virtual and ongoing training programs, as well as conduct needs assessments on an on-going basis. This position will inform, develop, and execute leadership training curriculum, further embedding the core capabilities for Ferring globally and locally. This position will also focus on larger projects such as gap analysis, data and analytic reporting, vendor management and continuous development through certifications. Additionally, this role will be responsible for coaching field-based leaders while they are in the field. This role will require field-based and event travel up to 30% and is based at the Parsippany, NJ home office.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and Manage the leadership development training strategy, rollout and facilitation of existing Ferring core curriculum programs annually related to leadership development for commercial talent.
  • Identify and assess gaps/opportunities in current curriculum based on a needs analysis and integrate Global Leadership development programs into core commercial curriculum. This will include content creation and development, instructional design, vendor management, budget management, and communication to key stakeholders with data analytics and insights.
  • Work with Sr Director, Commercial Training to build long-range e-learning coursework and curriculum and that will support ongoing business objectives for commercial training functions that impact core business unit of responsibility.
  • Evaluate leadership training content by incorporating measures and metrics into program designs and propose recommendations and solutions based on outcomes interpreting the data and analytics dashboards.
  • In collaboration with Sales Leadership and HR, conduct needs assessment annually and recommend training curriculum for Phase programming of leaders at Ferring.
  • Provide support for market access development (both in programs for representatives and within the market access team if needed) in coordinating existing market access training (with appropriate trainers) and offer oversite to the market access training strategy.
  • In collaboration with Sales Leadership, develop and execute a management development program for emerging talent. Also, conduct field rides with identified representatives to further coach and develop their leadership skills and enhance feedback.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 2-4 years of first line leadership leading a sales team is required.
  • Experience with a diverse product portfolio to include specialty products in markets such as Oncology or Gastroenterology is preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience within the Pharmaceutical Industry is required, Biotechnology experience is preferred.
  • Commercial experience required
  • Experience leading a team
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing needs, building solutions, executing and measuring outcomes.
  • Certifications of Five Conversations, Situational Leadership, Gallup Strength Finders preferred.
  • Project Management skills required
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems preferred
  • Experience with data and analytic dashboards preferred
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Skills (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) are required
  • Candidate must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, motivation and leadership skills
  • Effectively operate in an evolving complex and dynamic environment

Our Compensation and Benefits

At Ferring, base salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $174,000 to $254,150, which is the reasonable estimate of the base compensation for this role. The actual amount paid may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, education and primary work location. Additional compensation for this role will be provided based on competitive annual incentive compensation targets in the form of an annual bonus - payouts are based on individual and company performance.

Benefits for this role include: comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with a premium differential, inverse to base salary, to be paid by employees; a 401k plan and company match; short and long-term disability coverage; basic life insurance; wellness benefits; reimbursement for certain tuition expenses; sick time frontloaded yearly of 40 hours, or higher if state or local law requires; vacation time for full time employees to accrue between 112.5 and 150 hours yearly in the first four (4) years of employment, and additional accruals starting in the fifth (5th) year of employment; and 12 to 13 paid holidays per year. We are proud to paid parental leave subject to a minimum period of employment at Ferring. For roles that are not field-based, Ferring has a policy that allows employees to work up to two days from home and three at a Ferring site, weekly.
