Job Description Summary

Responsible for University e-commerce activities, including overseeing merchant accounts and payment card functions and ensuring compliance with industry and University standards, policies and requirements. Serves as a key contributor to the PCI (Payment Card Industry) compliance program for the University and coordinates compliance efforts with campus merchants. Manages key ecommerce applications, including configuration, security and data flows.

Job Description

Essential Functions:
  • Manages merchant accounts for the University, including new account configuration and ongoing maintenance. Supports all necessary accounting (journal entries and deposits) and overall reporting for ecommerce transactions. Develops and maintains procedures relevant to payment card acceptance.
  • Serves as primary liaison to the PCI-related contracted services providers, payment gateways, acquiring banks and processors.
  • Configures and administers ecommerce applications - including AudienceView, Cvent and Nelnet Commerce Manager - to ensure that they meet Finance, Information Security and campus requirements. This includes creating or troubleshooting events on behalf of campus customers. Evaluates system impact as a result of available upgrades, including patches/fixes, and executes needed testing. Leads the investigation and resolution of application issues encountered by users. Logs support incidents to service providers and coordinates timely problem resolution with user and/or Information Systems staff as needed.
  • Executes internal and campus communications relating to merchant services and ecommerce applications. Provides campus training relating to PCI compliance and ecommerce applications.
  • Develops, maintains and reviews application security access for ecommerce application users to ensure internal controls are maintained systematically and data is protected from unauthorized access. Accountable for executing and getting approval security reviews on a rolling basis (e.g. weekly, quarterly and annual reviews).
  • Consistently promotes best practices, high levels of customer service and implementation of customer's strategic goals.
  • Meets regularly with others in Finance, including the Controller's Group and Student Financial Services, to ensure that a strong cross-functional relationship exists with these important partners.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Associate degree in a business, accounting or operations field and five to seven years of experience in merchant services and/or compliance activities.
  • Knowledge and experience with PCI DSS and payment card / bank processing.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g. Workday Finance).
  • Knowledge of ecommerce applications (preferably Cvent, Nelnet suite of applications).
  • Ability to manage the relationship and coordinate the work of external software vendors and coordinate related communications with internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of any proprietary or sensitive data in any medium regarding the university or its students, faculty, or staff.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Access and Visio) and Google Workspace is required
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills are required; must have the interpersonal finesse to interact effectively within the organization and with external suppliers.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, a detail orientation, and a proven ability to follow projects and issues through to completion.
  • Ability to work in a team environment both as a project leader and participant.
  • Must be comfortable in an environment that places high emphasis on continual improvement, teamwork, and excellent customer service.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Familiarity with higher education administration current best practices and leading edge technologies.
  • Demonstrated accounting knowledge.
