Position Title: Scrum Master Location: Remote Division: Command Cyber Solutions Position Summary Command Cyber Solutions is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to support Agile software delivery within a DevSecOps environment. The Scrum Master will facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies and serve as a servant leader and agile coach for cross-functional development teams delivering secure, high-quality solutions in iterative increments. Working in close collaboration with Product Owners, security engineers, and DevOps professionals, the Scrum Master will drive continuous improvement, support backlog refinement, and ensure alignment with security, compliance, and release requirements. The role requires proactive removal of impediments, coaching on Agile and DevSecOps best practices, and fostering a collaborative team culture focused on delivering value, transparency, and audit-ready outcomes. The ideal candidate will possess strong facilitation skills, a deep understanding of Agile principles, and hands-on experience supporting teams operating within CI/CD pipelines, automated testing frameworks, and security-first software development lifecycles in a federal contracting context. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring alignment with Agile best practices. Guide and coach Agile teams on Scrum principles, DevSecOps integration, and continuous delivery practices to improve team maturity and delivery performance. Proactively identify and remove team-level impediments or coordinate with external stakeholders to enable uninterrupted sprint execution. Support Product Owners in maintaining a well-groomed, prioritized backlog, ensuring stories are actionable, testable, and aligned with stakeholder priorities. Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement by fostering open communication, collaborative problem-solving, and shared ownership of outcomes. Serve as a liaison between the development team and external stakeholders, enhancing visibility through effective use of Agile metrics, information radiators, and reporting tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence). Assist with risk and issue tracking, dependency management, and coordination with DevOps and cybersecurity personnel to ensure secure, compliant, and stable deployments. Champion the adoption of Agile and DevSecOps principles across the team, contributing to enterprise delivery standards, process documentation, and knowledge sharing. Support compliance with contract performance requirements, federal security policies, and Agile delivery milestones defined by the Government or Technical Program Manager.
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum of 5-8 years of experience serving as a Scrum Master in Agile software development environments. Proven experience supporting Agile teams in DevSecOps or CI/CD enabled environments with integrated testing, security, and automated delivery practices. Demonstrated knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and federal IT delivery environments. Experience using Agile lifecycle management tools (e.g., Jira) and collaboration platforms (e.g., Confluence). Familiarity with software delivery in compliance with federal frameworks such as FISMA, NIST SP 800-53, and OWASP ASVS 4.0.3 is preferred. Strong facilitation, conflict resolution, and servant leadership skills in cross-functional and remote team environments. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders. US Citizenship with a Public Trust or the ability to obtain one.
Required Certifications (only one required):
Certified Scrum Master Professional Scrum Master I, II, or III SAFe Scrum Master Certified Scrum Professional - ScrumMaster (preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough understanding of Scrum, Agile, and DevSecOps principles, including iterative development, continuous integration, and secure software delivery practices. Knowledge of Agile frameworks (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban) and their application in complex, multi-team, or federal program environments. Proficiency in Agile collaboration and tracking tools, such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms. Ability to facilitate and lead Agile ceremonies effectively, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming. Strong communication and servant leadership skills, with the ability to coach teams, resolve conflicts, and promote continuous improvement. Ability to remove impediments and escalate blockers appropriately to ensure team velocity and sprint commitments are maintained. Familiarity with federal security and compliance frameworks, such as NIST SP 800-53, FedRAMP, FISMA, and OWASP ASVS, especially as they relate to Agile delivery. Skill in coaching and mentoring cross-functional teams to increase Agile maturity and delivery performance. Ability to translate technical discussions into actionable items for both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote or hybrid work environment.
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
Position will be performed virtually from the individual's home office working on EST time schedule. Hours of operation are M-F between 0800-1630. Occasionally, project requirements may require temporary adjustment of work hours/days. Duties are subject to change based on the needs of the customer.
