We are seeking a
Director of Lawyer Recruiting to lead Dorsey's Lawyer Recruiting team. Working closely with Firm management, you will lead, plan, and manage the firm's full cycle recruiting efforts, using traditional and innovative strategies to guide candidates through an engaging and meaningful recruiting and hiring process.
Key Responsibilities Include: - Provide leadership and vision in the development of firm-wide lawyer recruiting strategies, both long- and short-term, working closely with practice group leaders, firm leadership, and other key stakeholders to identify organizational needs and support successful integration of new lawyers. - Serve as a trusted advisor and source of institutional and practical knowledge for the Recruiting Committee and Firm leadership. - Drive end-to-end lateral associate and partner recruiting processes from initial identification through offer, onboarding, and integration phases; develop strategies for sourcing, attracting, hiring, and retaining top talent; develop strong working relationships with recruiters and other referral sources. - Direct all aspects of law school, on-campus, and associate recruiting, including the summer associate program; continue to cultivate strong lines of connection with top law schools and other institutional stakeholders. - Evaluate and establish tools for measuring the success of all lateral and law school recruitment efforts and implement strategic improvements. - Monitor current trends and innovations in recruiting strategies and practices; develop corresponding responses; and implement new methodologies, programs, and practices as appropriate. - Maintain clear, effective lines of communication across the Firm, keeping all stakeholders well informed regarding new initiatives and developments, business issues, and other relevant topics. - Supervise and provide direction to a high-performing team of managers and coordinators; provide training, professional development objectives, and feedback to ensure strong performance from all members. - Work closely with the Culture and Engagement team to strategize and implement recruiting initiatives and process that align with Culture and Engagement priorities. - Direct the development of communication and marketing materials, including the careers site, social media, electronic communications, and other types of communications. - Organize training and guidance in effective and appropriate recruiting and interviewing skills. - Develop and manage the recruiting budget. - Ensure the firm's recruiting efforts are globally aligned through collaboration with office and practice group administrators, hiring partners and related committees. What we're looking for: - Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of professional recruiting experience, with a minimum of five years in a leadership role, with a sophisticated, multi-office professional services or financial services firm; legal recruiting experience is desired but not required. - Extensive experience leading all strategic and operational aspects of the recruitment function, including identification of needs, strategy development, management of external search firms and consultants, institutional (law school-equivalent) relationship building and program management, candidate identification, evaluation, and assessment, offer negotiation, onboarding, and integration. - Outstanding relationship-building skills and personable, enthusiastic approach, combined with poise, gravitas, and the ability to lead through influence rather than control - creating consensus-based support for business strategies and decisions at all levels of the firm. - Expert understanding of best practices in professional recruitment, including the design and utilization of reporting tools and metrics, and other measurements of effectiveness. - Strong project management skills, including the ability to establish an appropriate timeline and manage to deadline; organizational skills needed to manage time well, prioritize effectively, and handle multiple deadlines. - Strong business acumen and analytical skills. - Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with appropriate discretion. - Ability to travel periodically as needed. Preferred: - JD or other advanced degree. - Familiarity with the wide-ranging areas of law practiced by a full-service law firm. This range represents Dorsey's good faith estimate of likely compensation at the time of posting.
