Washington Trust has an opportunity for a Consumer Loan Administrator to join its Consumer Lending team in Westerly. The Consumer Loan Administrator plays a pivotal customer-focused role supporting pre-closing, closing, and post-closing activities on origination and portfolio servicing requests, working closely with the Consumer Credit team and other business lines to support a diverse range of products. The Consumer Loan Administrator will manage a number of responsibilities of varying complexity to include but not limited to coordinating closing requests timely, completing comprehensive documentation reviews to ensure loan closings and modifications are complete, compliant, accurate, and in accordance with WTC's credit policies and procedures, providing administrative support with recording documents, completing funding requests, and delivering exceptional internal and external customer experiences.

The Consumer Loan Administrator works collaboratively with all stakeholders, internally and externally, proactively addressing challenges and providing clear, consultative guidance to borrowers and Loan Originators, aligning efforts towards a common goal, while maintaining an unwavering commitment to excellence in data integrity, risk mitigation and customer experience.

This position has hybrid work possibilities with 40% remote in approved area and 60% in office in Westerly, RI.

What you'll do:



  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge in consumer loan originations, with a focus on real estate secured operations
  • Manage a robust loan pipeline through reports and queues used to effectively manage and prioritize daily workflow and ensure timely loan processing; adhere to departmental Service Level Agreements (SLA) turn times
  • Act as a liaison between attorneys, lenders, and clients, coordinating closing schedules and modification requests, and ensuring a collaborative, cohesive experience for the customer
  • Review imaging system for documentation and documentation deficiencies for new loan and modification requests
  • Analyze and document outstanding documentation requirements, closing, funding and post-closing conditions
  • Monitor/coordinate insurance needs as applicable
  • Communicate with other members of Consumer Credit and any other identified stakeholders regarding the status of loan requests, missing information needed from the lender/borrower and clear-to-close information
  • Use the Bank's loan origination system to key information necessary for accurate closing documents for Non-Real Estate Transactions and Real Estate Transactions originated through the Consumer Credit division, according to Bank policy, credit approval terms, collateral type, property location, system compatibility and other related policies and procedures
  • Prepare Closing Disclosures, as required, adhering to strict timelines and ensuring fees are accurate and within appropriate tolerances of fees initially disclosed to the Customer
  • Review draft loan documents to ensure alignment with bank policy, credit approval terms, and loan system compatibility
  • Work with customers, bank partners and/or vendors to resolve any pre- or post-signing issues or concerns; Exhibit strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address and resolve issues efficiently
  • Manage corrections and loan documentation errors in a timely manner once notified
  • Verify receipt and accuracy of all closing documents, ensuring proper execution, prior to releasing funds
  • Ensure trailing documents are received timely; address any inquiries, missing documentation(s) related to post-closing processes and resolve them promptly and professionally
  • Complete Loan Set up tasks, support reconciliation and complete checklists as required
  • Ensure compliance with WTC loan policy and all federal, state and local regulations
  • Maintain acceptable level of quality and data integrity within LOS for all loan files
  • Ensure HMDA reportable data is accurately maintained within the Loan Origination System
  • Provide high-level of support for internal team members and vendors to proactively manage the customer experience, meet and exceed service level agreements, resolve discrepancies, and process escalations in support of a Best-in-Class lending experience
  • Propose innovative solutions to problems, utilizing all available resources to enhance processes and optimize the loan administration function
  • Contributor in department and companywide projects; Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for automation and digitization of lending processes to minimize delays and enhance workflow

  • Maintain an understanding and competency with respect to software and other systems required to perform the duties of the position including LoansPQ, Insight Lite, Encompass, Fiserv DNA, Excel, etc.



Qualifications:



  • High school diploma/GED required, bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Subject Matter Expertise - 2+ years of experience in loan processing or closing, preferably in lending secured by residential real estate
  • Strong knowledge of federal/state regulatory policies and procedures
  • Highly professional, responsible, engaging and effective
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective when presenting to individuals and/or groups of people
  • Exceptionally organized; Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work in a deadline driven environment
  • Proven success working independently as well as within a collaborative, team-oriented setting
  • Lead by example by demonstrating a positive 'can-do' attitude in the workplace

  • In depth understanding of loan origination systems; specifically Meridian Link Loans PQ and Encompass
