Assistant Vice President, Ancillary Services

Position Summary:

Plans, organizes, directs, and is responsible for the effective management and performance of the clinical, administrative and fiscal operations of Inpatient Ancillary Services. Also acts as the Leadership Sponsor for VMG Diagnostic Imaging and Laboratory Services.

Job Specific Competencies

  • Represents Ancillary Services in all construction and renovation projects including TNVH and VMG Facilities. Participation includes making recommendations for the size and scope of the services, equipment and supplies to be purchased, assessing patient and staff flow. Responsibilities include participating in committees, making site visits, garnering input from the end users, and making recommendations for the new inpatient units, clinical areas and VMG Practices

  • Represents departments under responsibility through involvement on interdepartmental and interdisciplinary committees or task forces to effect change and problem solve within the organization. Represents Ancillary Services in both medical and professional committees.

  • Works collaboratively with physician leadership to create the strategic plan for technology, growth and quality improvement for all clinical services contained within Ancillary Services.

  • Participates with professional groups within the state and clinical/operational services to stay abreast of current state-of-the-art parameters to manage areas of responsibilities. Offers recommendations that assist in the current and future strategies of the organization.

  • Management and direct supervision of leadership and staff in the following areas:

    • Diagnostic Imaging

    • Laboratory Services

    • Pharmacy

    • Other Ancillary Services as appropriate

EDUCATION

Master's degree in healthcare administration or a related discipline required.

SKILLS

  • Demonstrated progressive leadership background in managing at least one of the areas under supervision (Pharmacy, Diagnostic Imaging, or Laboratory).

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to manage and interact with clinical and non-clinical staff and leaders.

  • Communicates clearly and effectively.

  • Working knowledge of financial and marketing analysis and CQI techniques pertaining to metrics in ancillary services (including access to and turnaround of services).
