Field Service Technician I

Schedule: Rotating shift, Monday-Thursday or Tuesday-Friday, depending on operational needs.
Hours: 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Overtime: May be required as needed
Make-Up Day: The fifth day of the week may be used as a make-up day in the event of rain or an unplanned absence
Interview: Onsite interview required
Experience Level: Entry-level; minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
Driving Requirement: May be required to operate a Ford or RAM truck for local driving (approximately 25 miles); valid MVR required
Worksite Location: 4225 Michael Avalon Street, Jackson, MS 39209

Independent Worker: Self-motivated and capable of working without constant supervision.
Water Industry Experience: Experience with water valves and hydrants is preferred.
Work Environment: Outdoor work is required.

THE ROLE: The Field Service Technician will be responsible for safe, accurate and professional operation/maintenance of valves and fire hydrants. You will follow written procedures for assessing, operating, maintaining and testing valves and fire hydrants. You will also become familiar with the duties of the Crew Chief in order to provide advancement opportunities within the organization. In this role, the incumbent will also maintain a clean and orderly work site environment to enable safe and efficient movement of workers and motorized equipment throughout the site.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Support tool/equipment assembly and disassembly under supervision, including cleaning tools and equipment
Actively participate in onsite safety and planning meetings to review safety risks and areas of concern based on planning documentation and onsite observations
Keeps site clean and free from potential tripping and safety hazards
Additional duties and responsibilities may be required based on organizational needs
Secure all items loaded on the truck for safe over-the-road travel in accordance with Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Department of Transportation and local Department of Transportation guidelines.
Assist in securing load utilizing straps and chains.
Ensure vehicle, yard and loading areas are clear of debris and trash; accessories and equipment are organized and easy to access.
Follow all safety processes and procedures and maintain a "Safety First" approach when completing daily work tasks.
Complete a Job Safety Assessment before beginning any job on a customer site.
Ensure compliance with all Personal Protective Equipment requirements.
Participation in client Watermark volunteer activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school or general equivalency degree.
Experience in the water industry preferred.
Valid driver's license with good driving record.
Ability to work flexible hours to respond to customer emergencies.
Ability to read, write legibly and communicate effective with co-workers, supervisors/managers, and customers both verbally and in writing.
Basic computer skills.
