Develops, organizes and implements high quality programs focused on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility and designed to make the YMCA the place for individuals and families in the community. Essential Functions:
- Offers high quality programs through innovative program development.
- Ensures programs comply with YMCA of Greater Houston standards and operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff and volunteers as needed.Reviews and evaluates staff performance.Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures all direct staff have completed necessary certifications to be in compliance.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. Works closely with supervisor to plan and execute social media plan for the center.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives. Monitors program registration and accounts receivable. Purchases and maintains program supplies.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities.
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs, including administering program evaluations and compiling statistics.
- Identifies opportunities in the community for the YMCA to engage and connect.Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Assists with Board Committee meetings as directed by Executive Director.
- Participates in the center's Cause-Driven Leader on Duty (CLOD) schedule.
- Other duties in support of the role or as assigned.
Sports:
- Establishes sports programming for youth including youth sports clinics and youth sports seasons.
- Creates teams from registrations. Organizes and conducts orientation meetings for parents and coaches.
- Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules.
- Communicate consistently with participants and families to ensure they are informed of schedules, game times, locations, and any program updates or changes.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities. Secures and schedules athletic fields and facilities for sports programming and sets up sports equipment for games and practices.
- Recruits volunteer coaches. Develops and implements program specific volunteer trainings for volunteer coaches.
Enrichment:
- Establishes value-added and fee-based programming for youth and families that may include dance, martial arts, ninja, art, etc.
- Designs and implements enrichment lessons and STEM activities in programs.
- Creates class schedules to ensure member needs are met.
Forever Well:
- Establishes programming and activities for senior members.
Member Experience
- Executes member engagement and sales strategies that promote recruitment of new members, renewal and retention of existing members. Organizes assigned staff to support membership development and sales and retention goals. Identifies and resolves problem areas to ensure member satisfaction.
- Follows policies, processes, and best practices outlined by the Association Membership team.
- Seeks information from other program directors to ensure the membership staff are knowledgeable to serve our members.
- Leads a positive member experience culture for all.
- Responds to and resolves member concerns.
- Ensures that new members are properly introduced and integrated into programs and services based on the needs analysis interview.
- Work closely with Association Membership and Marketing teams to initiate, develop and grow relationships with prospects and new members.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment in interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates program registration, including logistics to support phone, walk-in and web registration. Ensures quality control for all on-line memberships joins.
- Embrace, support and role model concepts of Listen First, Building Relationships Member Engagement and Healthy Lifestyles to all members.
- Ensures proper implementation of front desk procedures. Reviews and updates procedures and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions.
Healthy Living
- Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
- Direct supervision of all health and wellness programs including group exercise, small group training, personal training, chronic disease prevention and wellness floor.
- Applies industry knowledge to create innovative and strategic solutions to increase member retention and acquisition. Ensures high quality programs are offered
- Ensures staff maintain current certifications.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in healthy living programs. Develops Group Exercise schedules to ensure member needs and are met.

- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
- Two to three years related programming experience in a non-profit environment preferred.
- Minimum age requirements of 21 years old.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) with children and adults.
- Desire to work with children and families and the ability to relate to them in a positive, patient, sensitive and non-judgmental manner.
- Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of Compliance and safety training, CPR, First Aid and AED certifications.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES May directly supervise part time non-exempt employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing and approving timesheets; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; monitoring and updating all required staff certifications; addressing complaints and resolving problems. COMPUTER LITERACY Skills are essential in all of the Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access. Ability to use these programs to lighten work load, develop reports and to automate procedures is very necessary. Ability to diagnose basic PC problems and to communicate those problems is very important. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
