Overview

Selective is dedicated to driving innovation and excellence across all our operations. Our Enterprise IT Center of Excellence (CoE) teams are hubs for best practices, continuous improvement, and strategic initiatives. We are looking for a dynamic and experienced CoE Engineering Manager to join our team and help us achieve our goals.

As part of our growing CoE services, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading projects, driving best practices, and strategic initiatives, and building/maturing CoE services in areas of DevSecOps and Cloud-based collaboration solutions online.


Responsibilities

  • Define Vision and Strategy: Drive the vision, roadmap, and strategy for CoE teams, aligning with enterprise technology goals.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers, fostering continuous improvement and technical excellence.

Technical Expertise: Act as a hands-on technical expert, providing leadership and creating comprehensive solutions/patterns documentation.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, security, and infrastructure teams and collaborate with Solutions and Enterprise Architects on new patterns definition and adoption.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Develop and maintain productive relationships with project sponsors, key solutions users, business users, and other IT functions as applicable
  • Project Management: Manage efforts related to the project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring clear communication and monitoring progress.
  • Resource Allocation: Forecast and allocate team members across multiple development projects.
  • Solution Development: Supervise and guide the design and development activities for applications, ensuring they meet specifications.
  • Governance and Standards: Develop and implement a maturity model, governance framework, and standards for consistent practices.
  • Training and Metrics: Conduct regular health checks, define and track metrics and KPIs, and deliver training sessions and materials.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management Information Science, or related field preferred
    • 10+ years in engineering leadership with proven experience in Cloud, DevSecOps and Collaboration space.
    • Experience leading and establishing COE setup model, well versed with the concept of platform engineering
    • Proven track record in Engineering team building, coaching, leading, and maturing their practices
    • A passion for technology and a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Skills
    • Strong leadership and management skills
    • Possesses excellent communication, motivational, and interpersonal skills.
    • Well-versed with the Agile-based methodologies and product-based software development model
    • Ability to effectively collaborate with people in other departments and/or outside of the enterprise.
    • Enterprise tools rationalization
    • Metrics-driven decision making
    • Excellent technical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
    • Hand-on experience and working knowledge of Azure DevOps, Azure Cloud, Kubernetes, App Sec tooling
    • Good Knowledge of PowerShell Script, REST API, SharePoint Services, SPFX Framework, MS Team, Power Platform capabilities (in space of power apps, power automate, virtual agents)
    • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Drive to master emerging technologies and share experiences with the organization

The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
