PART-TIME HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT OPPORTUNITY High School Students 16+ years MUST be enrolled in CTE, Youth Apprentice or similar manufacturing program. This opportunity is designed to give interns or youth apprentice (YA) a holistic view of what Metal Craft, located in Elk River, MN has to offer in a variety of departments. This paid learning opportunity is a minimum of 12-weeks. Intern/YA will be provided hands on learning and job shadowing experiences which will give the student an opportunity to develop skills to contribute to the success of the business. In this work-based experience students will be assigned mentor(s) and/or trainer(s). The purpose for this role is to allow high school students the opportunity to gain manufacturing experience as well as provide the company some additional support with special projects in the Quality Department.
This position may participate in one or more of the following duties as directed by supervision or management. Job shadow in various departments such as but not limited to; Quality, Engineering, Production, Programming, Assembly and Shipping. Learn inspection processes in the lab Work on the inspection at the source project helping with the translation of QCC on current orders. May work on projects that support Quality Engineering. May run machines and use a variety of hand tools and measuring equipment Check parts with CMM and learn basic Keyence programming Perform periodic quality checks as described in operation layouts Package, wash, and deburr as described in operation layouts or otherwise directed by full-time machinist mentor, engineer, or supervisor Keep work area clean and organized Intern will be responsible for the quality of the parts that he or she produces Op Layouts (assist with the completion of op layouts) Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
HIGH SCHOOL Students must be enrolled in CTE, a Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing or Industrial program Shift is flexible and can be changed to accommodate current courses/schedule. This position will work 12-16 hours per week on average.
Understanding of machining equipment. Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
