Summary of the Job:

The Director, Wealth and Investments is responsible for leading various work including technical and analytical strategy to the Public Finance team, performing securities structuring, performance reporting, research and analysis of securities, working with issuers of securities and the performance and results of departments within the Fixed Income team.

Accountable to effectively market to targeted clients, prospects and referral sources to achieve assigned goals and objectives. Collaborate with the other members of the Public Finance team on the creation of business development strategies aimed at growing the business. Participate in the Public Finance transaction and deal flow process, both internally and externally, for assigned clients or personally sourced transactions. Interact with peers across FNBO/FNNI to identify and collaborate on initiatives to strengthen First National as a financial services provider and as a community partner.

About This Role:

  • Key Accountabilities
    • Business Results: Perform against business goals and financial targets as established annually.
      • Develop and maintain a set of performance metrics for departmental outputs/objectives
      • Prepare annual budget proposals. Monitor and develop reporting with regard to budgetary adherence and variances
      • Meet and or exceed all assigned Scorecard goals & objectives
      • Cover assigned geographic regions and define client business development goals for coverage area
      • Define cross-sell strategies, objectives and provide direct support to close deals
      • Develop a network of contacts from other divisions across FNBO/FNNI to work with to support the development of alternative client acquisition and sales channels
      • Participate in the development of transaction management and business development strategies
      • Provide input with regard to technology/systems utilized
    • Client Accountabilities: Accountable to develop and implement strategies and plans to facilitate the acquisition of new clients to meet and exceed defined goals and objectives.
      • Business Development (New clients)- Effectively market to targeted clients, prospects and referral sources to achieve assigned goals and objectives.
        • Conduct ongoing research and analysis to attain strong understanding of target market
        • Develop, tailor and implement business development action plan to pursue target market / clientele
        • Research, identify and develop networks that enable exposure and opportunities to develop new business with target market and deepen relationships with existing clients
        • Maintain and enhance current internal and external sales, marketing and communication activities to promote the sourcing of new and growth of existing Public Finance clients
          • Effectively manage internal and external referral systems
          • Participate and drive joint marketing efforts with FNIS / FNNI partners and external referral sources
          • Foster referral relationships by referring back business when appropriate and providing timely feedback and support
        • Participate with the implementation, enhancement, documentation and execution of processes and procedures necessary to successfully market, sell and service Public Finance clients or prospects.
        • Continuously identify, analyze and capitalize on Public Finance competitive advantage.
        • Meet or exceed defined revenue targets and business unit goals, objectives and activities at the individual, Investment Banking and WIG levels
      • Transaction Execution- Participate in and provide oversight to the creation of sales presentations and manage the transaction process, both internally and externally, for assigned clients or personally sourced transactions
        • Serve as a lead contact for clients on current and potential transactions
        • Lead the creation and overview of client deliverables including analytics, research, authoring, design and risk analysis
        • Review and guide clients on transaction analysis and documentation for quality and accuracy
        • Participate on the transaction team and review their work during the transaction and sales process to deliver quality results
      • Market Intelligence- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Public Finance market trends, history of the market and upcoming market trends and translate into Public Finance opportunities
        • Demonstrate Public Finance product expertise within the market and to target market
        • Identify, analyze and provide recommendations regarding opportunities within the market including products, services, pricing, structure and market value
          • Maintain competitive intelligence on the market/competitor product offerings. Identify and communicate any gaps within Public Finance product offerings.
        • Participate and network at applicable industry conferences and training
        • Manage Public Finance transaction profitability, pricing, structure, timing and delivery to ensure that it is appropriate and of value to Public Finance clients
        • Monitor performance and provide recommendations regarding the transaction execution capacity that exists within Public Finance team.
        • Develop and display a proficiency in all product offerings and client segments served by Public Finance and FNIS.
    • Community Focus: Ensure that all Public Finance team decisions and plans align and promote the FNNI corporate image, philosophy and culture in the communities we serve
      • Participate as members of meaningful local business committees and board memberships to develop beneficial business relationships, understand local perceptions of FNNI/FNIS and support strategic planning to ensure a strong, positive community perception of FNNI/FNIS
      • Initiate and direct the participation in benchmarking studies to continue alignment of current product offerings to "Best-in-Class".
      • Identify and assign committee memberships, industry specific seminars and other developmental opportunities for subordinate staff.
    • Compliance: Understand and comply with bank policy, laws, regulations, and the bank's BSA/AML Program, as applicable to your job duties.
      • Complete compliance training and adhere to internal procedures and controls, as required.
      • Report any known violations of compliance policy, laws, or regulations.
      • Report any suspicious customer and/or account activity.
      • If applicable, ensure direct reports meet the above requirements and take action to address employee performance issues.

The Ideal Candidate for This Role:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Banking, Finance, Accounting, Business, Marketing or equivalent
  • 8+ years Public Finance or related experience
  • Previous Government Finance experience
  • Knowledge of public finance products/services
    • Proficient in complex credit structuring
  • Demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong relationships through exceptional relationship management skills
  • Seasoned professional with an existing network among Nebraska issuers
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Team player and mentor
  • Ability to travel to throughout the State and region as needed

Compensation:

Compensation range (base pay): $105,443.00-$179,253.00

This role may have a specific starting pay within this range.

Final compensation offer to candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level.
