Job Summary

The Internal Review Board Specialist coordinates processes related to the internal review of research to ensure compliance with institutional policies and federal regulations governing of human subject's research. This position provides ongoing review of all Internal Review Board submission materials based on good clinical practices and conducts audit review of Internal Review Board minutes.

Essential Functions
  • Participate in daily activities of Internal Review Board office, including study review, serving as Internal Review Board meeting analyst, and performing Internal Review Board audits. Participate in evaluations of Internal Review Board committee members annually.

  • Perform delegated Internal Review Board review for approval of research protocols and submission materials. Maintain Internal Review Board consent templates, including commercial or other external Internal Review Board.

  • Assist researchers to navigate and troubleshoot their use of the Internal Review Board submission system. Guide researchers on options for addressing Internal Review Board identified concerns with their research.

  • Review research and governmental publications and releases routinely to identify regulatory changes related to biomedical or clinical research and share findings at Internal Review Board staff meetings and Internal Review Board committee meetings.

  • Participate in the developing Standard Operating Procedures for the Internal Review Board review and processing.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in clinical health science, such as nursing, medical technology, etc. or a related field with 2 years relevant experience working in an Internal Review Board, clinical research, research administration or government agency or a bachelor's degree in a health related field with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience working in an Internal Review Board, clinical research, research administration or government agency
  • Experience in clinical research, research administration, Institutional Review Board, or government agency
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products

Preferred

  • Experience using relevant technical health record management systems and documentation software
  • Certified as an IRB Professional within 180 days of employment
