This is a critical role focused on maintaining, upgrading, and modernizing the university's building automation systems to support a safe, sustainable, and efficient campus environment.

About the Role:

Working independently under the guidance of the Director, position is responsible for programming, monitoring, installing, testing, re-commissioning, inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and programming building automation systems (BAS) including HVAC and other integrated systems. This Building Automation Manager will be responsible for developing a long-term plan for BAS and updating and maintaining the graphical web interface that provides for systems monitoring and diagnosis and applying knowledge of multiple communication protocols including but not limited to BACnet, lon and modbus.

What you will be doing:

    Leads projects across campus including reporting, schedules project execution, and facilitates meetings.
  • Monitors/adheres to timelines and budgets. Oversees scope development, work request initiation, scheduling, and inspection of work performed by university technicians and outside contractors, which includes proprietary work, licensed installations, upgrades, and maintenance and inspection of specialized systems.
  • Designs and develops DDC programming and graphical interfaces. Develops and implements sequences of operation for mechanical HVAC equipment
  • Develops and collaborates with Director a long-range plan for all BGSU building automation systems, including installation, upgrades, replacement, etc.
  • Complies with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency and university directives related to systems operations
  • Educates customers, consulting engineers, and other users on best practices and proper use and installation of systems, software, and devices
  • Plans for responsive user interfaces incorporating JAVA, SML and HTML5 technologies and mobility needs (smartphone and tablets)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree. Degree must be conferred by time of application
  • 4 years as a technician specifically maintaining, fixing, purchasing, installing, etc. with various EMS/BAS manufacturers systems
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Knowledge on HVAC System operation and troubleshooting
  • Must have a maintain a valid driver's license and comply with the University's vehicle use policy

The anticipated salary for this position is $66,375 - $102,052 depending on experience.
