About the Role:

Litigation counsel supporting the Louisiana LNG Project.

Reports to Managing Counsel.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality



  • Contribute to HSEQ culture, including facilitating an environment consistent with Woodside values and responsibilities.
  • Actively contribute to HMT crisis management initiatives.


Leadership



  • Acting as a leader in supporting and enhancing a culture of compliance within Woodside and influencing third parties and other external stakeholders to align with Woodside's compliance requirements and expectations.


Work Process and Systems



  • Facilitate behaviours which comply with Code of Conduct and MOA requirements and other legal and regulatory requirements.
  • To ensure that legal advice provided is consistent with Woodside Legal requirements and Woodside's values and approach to operations.


Excellence



  • Provide fit for purpose legal advice relating to Louisiana LNG.
  • Contribute to the Woodside Legal function via knowledge sharing and upskilling, cross-functional relationship building and stakeholder management.


Technical

The successful candidate will play a critical role in managing litigation risk, resolving commercial and construction disputes related to the Louisiana LNG project and will advise internal stakeholders on all contentious matters through the project lifecycle. In this role, they will:



  1. Lead and manage litigation, arbitration and other dispute resolution processes on the Louisiana LNG project (including on all phases of project development, JV / LLC management and commercial issues).
  2. Provide legal risk assessment and strategic guidance on construction and commercial claims, contractual disputes and regulatory and permitting compliance (including FERC, DOE, PHMSA) with respect to Louisiana LNG project development.
  3. Advise on claims arising from project contracts, joint venture and governance arrangements, personnel and workforce matters and other stakeholder claims.
  4. Collaborate with external counsel to ensure effective and cost-efficient case management of disputes when they arise.


Skills & Experience:

The Competency Framework should be referred to with regard to the levels of skills and experience required. Base technical skills with detailed requirements listed under LTO and role requirements include:

Skills/Experience:

1) Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.

2) Currently licensed to practice law in Texas and in good standing with the State Bar of Texas (or another US State Bar).

3) Minimum 7 years' professional legal experience, including major law firm litigation experience and/or in-house counsel experience. Previous in-house experience is not a pre-requisite.

4) In depth understanding of the energy industry.

5) A positive and enthusiastic attitude to new challenges and opportunities, and a willingness to learn and work within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

6) Be a team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and judgment.

7) Have strong organisational and prioritisation ability.

3) Proven ability to build and foster positive relationships and networks.
