Overview
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), a premier provider of ordnance weapons and tactical systems to the U.S. Department of Defense and allied nations, has an opening for an onsite Manager, QA (Defense) to join our Red Lion, PA Team. Summary: This position is responsible for leading and managing a quality team by providing direction/coordination/training/tools needed to ensure product meets defined requirements, while mitigating schedule constraints to ensure compliant product meets schedule demands. The Quality Manager is a change agent that is responsible for fostering an environment of continual improvement and adherence to quality standards and customer requirements. The Quality Manager develops or update policies, procedures, and methods to evaluate and improve the quality of products, materials, components and/or operations. The Quality Manager develops, assures, and maintains the quality of products and processes, including standard procedures (e.g., ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D, ISO 14000 family of standards), quality internal or supplier audits/reviews, Taguchi methods, process reengineering, etc. Responsibilities are within the Quality Assurance and Quality Control methods functioning in a combination of disciplines.
Major Position Responsibilities
Scope of Responsibilities may also include:
- Manage, lead, direct and mentor the quality team
- reviewing and approving timecards and expenditures
- approving purchase requisitions
- Manage quality budget and resources
- Evaluate team performance
- Oversee the development of the teams professional skillset
- Act as customer and/or USG liaison for all quality issues/concerns and ensure adequate resolution
- Develop and implement quality control systems
- Monitor and evaluate processes and product
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives
- Report on quality performance
- Support proposal activities
- Ensure accuracy and thoroughness of customer deliverables including but not limited to:
- First Article Plans
- First Article Reports
- Critical Characteristics Control Plan
- Critical Plan of Action
- Customer or Government Corrective Action Responses
- Support cross functional team initiatives
- Lead failure investigations for highly complex product or process nonconformities to identify root cause and implement corrective action
- Review and support supplier quality issues and/or nonconformances.
- Ensure nonconformance (NC's) and corrective actions are initiated, actioned and verified
- Support new supplier qualification requirements.
- Prepare reports for Senior or Executive Management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing various sets of data.
- Ensure high priority program quality risks are identified, communicated, and mitigated.
- Ensure compliance to Quality Management System requirements
Basic Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree
- OR equivalent combination of relevent education and/or experience
- 5-7 years experience in a relevant function
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other Engineering-related degree or Quality Management or Business
- Relevant Quality Engineering experience within Manufacturing, Military, Aerospace/Aviation, Automotive industry, Commercial industry
- ISO9001:2015 Lead auditor or AS9100D Lead Auditor
- Six Sigma Green Belt
- Certified Quality Engineer
- Strong Mechanical Background

Other Requirements:
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%
- Proficiency with MS Office 365 tools
- Professional demeanor and presentation skills for frequent customer meetings, presentations
