Job Objective: The Addictions Counselor provides evidence-based counseling and support to individuals in a residential treatment setting, facilitating recovery from substance use disorders. This role is responsible for conducting assessments, developing individualized treatment plans, and leading therapeutic interventions to promote long-term sobriety and wellness. Essential Functions:
Minimum Qualifications: Education: A Bachelor's degree in a human service field; may consider relevant experience in lieu of degree Experience: Direct or indirect experience with addiction and recovery; minimum five years' sobriety; minimum two years' experience providing addiction treatment Certifications/Licenses: National Certified Recovery Specialist (NCRS), or Licensed Drug and Alcohol Counselor (LDAC) Skills/Abilities:
Supervisory Responsibility: None Physical Requirements: Include the ability to sustain physical activity both inside and outside for extended periods of time. Work requires ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel and lift up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Travel: None Driving: Driving is required; employee must possess a valid driver's license from the state of residence; must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business Working Conditions: The work environment for this position includes an office environment with a low to medium noise level. Must be able to work with clients that have poor social skills, suffer from mental illness, and substance abuse or addiction.
