AMPI owns seven Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation's American-type cheese, processed cheese and butter is produced. The cooperative's award-winning cheese, butter and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled buttermakers and cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time:



  1. Develop & monitor the following dairy plant programs

    1. Wastewater management, water supply management, waste reduction, and water conservation
    2. Air permits applications, NPDES permits, land application permits, storm water permits, hazardous waste generators license
    3. Assistance in completing environmental compliance forms (TRI Form R, SARA Tier 2)
    4. Establish contacts with regulatory personnel including MPCA, DNR EPA, and other agencies having jurisdiction.
    5. Project management and cost justification in capital expenditures
    6. Coordinate AST, UST upgrades and oversight of spill prevention plans


  2. Good working knowledge of the environmental regulations in the CWA, SDWA, CAA, EPCRA, CERCLA, SARA, RCRA, and TSCA

    1. Correspondence and negotiation with regulatory agencies.
    2. Oversight and tracking of contractors
    3. Communicate new and changing environmental regulations


  3. Direct and administer the AMPI Environmental Management System, Environmental Policy, and Environmental Audit Policy
  4. Conduct, oversee, review, and communicate environmental audits of manufacturing facilities.
  5. Review and update environmental policies and programs
  6. Develop and monitor program for reporting sustainability information:

    1. Track and record sustainability data
    2. Work with Operations Specialist to review and report sustainability data as required.
    3. Provide feedback for improvement and achievement of sustainability goals.


  7. Provide environmental support and information for dairy processing in:

    1. Air handling systems
    2. Refrigeration systems
    3. Power utilization
    4. Boiler efficiencies
    5. Water and cow water utilization
    6. I.P. and chemical management
    7. Dryer and evaporator improvements and modifications
    8. Membrane media systems

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE



  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science with emphasis in engineering, biological sciences, chemistry or industrial hygiene or related field or a combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • Maintain a valid drivers' license and must be able to travel
