POSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATION

POSITION TITLE: Facilities Maintenance Technician DATE: May 2025

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt DEPT: Airport Operations

LOC: Delaware


POSITION SUMMARY: The Facilities Maintenance Technician reports to the Facilities Manager and is responsible for performing any and all preventative, routine and general maintenance of the organization in repair of buildings, facilities and equipment; assists with line service duties as requested; operates in compliance with company safety practices and performs other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  1. Performs general maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities, equipment and grounds.
  2. Performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds at various locations including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and painting tasks.
  3. Performs minor troubleshooting, repairs, and adjustments of locks on doors, cabinets, desks, closets; repairs of door hinges; changes filters on heating, ventilating and air conditioning units and services appliances.
  4. Reports mechanical malfunctions to Facilities Manager.
  5. Moves and assists in moving furniture and equipment at various locations.
  6. Notifies Facilities Manager of projects requiring the services of a higher skilled crafts person.
  7. Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work sites.
  8. Maintains customer and vendor relationships at all times with the highest priority.
  9. Performs line service duties and responsibilities as requested.

Education and Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to three years of prior facilities maintenance experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully an individual should have the ability to interact with and enter data into spreadsheet software.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to work effectively and contribute in a team environment and self-direct work.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit; walk, talk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, outdoor weather conditions such as extreme cold and heat, work near moving mechanical parts and vibration and work in high, precarious places. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and work with explosives. The noise level in the work environment falls within acceptable limits of OSHA guidelines.
