Lowboy Driver - LB0525

Sanders Brothers is currently seeking a Lowboy Driver to transport asphalt and earth moving equipment throughout the Lowcountry region. Sanders Brothers Construction Company, Inc. is a fully bonded, licensed and insured general contractor of heavy highway, street and road construction located in North Charleston, South Carolina. Our area of work includes residential and commercial developments, as well as heavy highway and DOT construction. We have the capability of performing a turn-key site work package in-house to include cost estimation, project management, surveying, grading, asphalt paving, concrete curb and gutter and flatwork, storm drainage and water and sewer systems. We also have three asphalt production plants, an active concrete and asphalt recycling division which includes a mobile crusher that travels around the southeast, as well as a soil stabilization division.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • The Lowboy Driver will be responsible for driving and operating a Lowboy for the purpose of moving various types of heavy equipment used for asphalt placement and earth moving operations.
  • Drive and operate a commercial vehicle - lowboy for the purpose of moving heavy equipment throughout local area and state, as needed.
  • Maintain DOT driving qualifications
  • Ability to travel overnight, work weekends and evenings as needed which may require working more than 40 hours but within DOT requirements weekly.
  • May require overnight stay based on driving distances and/or project needs.
  • Work in varying weather conditions and work environments including dusty, wet, loud noises, etc.
  • Keep company vehicle clean and orderly, informing management of any safety concerns or vehicle problems.
  • Comply with all SBCC policies, procedures and safety requirements.
  • Perform any other general duties as specified.



Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Class A commercial driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record by complying with standards established by SBCC policy.
  • 2+ Years operating/driving a commercial vehicle used for movement of heavy equipment - Preferred
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment
  • High school diploma/GED preferred.
  • Maintain DOT medical certification.
  • Must obtain a negative drug test result prior to hire and maintain throughout term of employment.
  • Must meet SBCC's employment standards with regards to background checks.
  • Must have the ability to stand, crawl and kneel for long periods of time
  • Work environments will vary making it necessary to tolerate weather conditions, such as rain and extreme temperatures. Employees may be exposed to dust, dirt, varying temperatures, loud noises, etc.
  • Candidates are encouraged to provide a 3-year MVR at the time of application.
