Job Description

Embry-Riddle Athletics is seeking applicants for the 2025-26 Athletics Communications Internship. We are looking for an intern with a versatile skillset who is willing to learn and brings a positive attitude to the workplace to help build upon the family-like culture we have established. Embry Riddle Eagles is an NCAA Division ll institution and competes in the Sunshine State Conference.

Job Description

  • Assist the Athletics department with publicity and media coverage of all 22 Embry-Riddle NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletic programs, promoting student-athlete achievements, team accomplishments, and athletics branding across multiple platforms.
  • Serve as the main contact and secondary contact for designated sports.
  • Responsible for writing press releases, drafting feature stories, and compiling statistics and records for dissemination to all internal and external constituencies, including, but not limited to, the media, community, and opposing teams.
  • Assist in designing digital and traditional assets including game day graphics, pre-game posts, real-time in-game updates, partnership deliverables, student-athlete conference awards, etc.
  • Assist in the development and management of the Embry-Riddle athletics department's website and various social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Facebook, X, etc.) ensuring current and engaging content for fans, recruits, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in capturing, editing, and posting high-quality video and photo content at athletic events (game day environment, community/campus groups, teams, etc.), practices, and behind-the-scenes stories using professional equipment.
  • Support communications team in live stream production for home events, including setup, troubleshooting, and real-time management to ensure professional-quality broadcasts.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Potential to travel with athletic teams to capture content.
  • Assist other departments and operational areas with content requests.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • "Fans First" mindset.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and communication skills.
  • Strong willingness to learn and work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of the functions of a collegiate athletics department.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Previous intercollegiate athletics or professional sports experience, with an interest in communications and/or collegiate athletic administration/sports marketing as a career path.
  • Basic experience with Statcrew/The Automated Scorebook/PrestoSports/Genius Sports in-game statistical programs.
  • Experience with video recording and editing, as well as motion graphics.

Compensation

Interns receive a total compensation of $23,520 for the duration of the internship. In addition, this internship includes an optional university meal plan (taxable).
