POSITION PURPOSE

The Primary function of the Building Services Technician is to ensure we keep all of PDI properties located in Rockland County, NY and Bergen County, NJ in operation. For this position, we are seeking an individual with facilities experience.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES



  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust operation of equipment for optimal operation.
  • Estimate job costs. Specify and purchase parts and materials as needed.
  • Perform various maintenance and repair work that will involve skills within several of the following areas: Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and painting as needed.
  • Perform normal building maintenance both indoor and outdoor (cleaning, landscaping, shoveling snow, raking) to keep the building in presentable conditions.
  • Maintain inventory of all supplies and necessary tools and equipment.
  • Complete work orders as assigned.
  • Support any new construction or repairs by outside contractors.
  • Perform and document inspections on building safety equipment systems.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedule regularly documenting all maintenance work to be performed.
  • Ensure that all areas of responsibility are kept in a neat, clean and orderly manner to ensure workplace safety and reduce lost time accidents
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Familiarity with GMP requirements a plus

  • Proficiency in skill sets required
  • Cost savings on supplies or work completed
  • Turnaround time of work orders and requests
  • Appearance of facility/space utilization


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION



  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE



  • General machine knowledge.
  • Electrical, Plumbing, Carpentry, HVAC and preventive maintenance knowledge required.
  • Haz-mat, OSHA knowledge a plus.


EXPERIENCE REQUIRED



  • 3-5 years of proven experience in facilities maintenance with ability to demonstrate proficiency.


SKILLS/ABILITIES:



  • Excellent Communications skills - ability to communicate effectively with office and plant personnel.
  • Mechanical skills for normal building repairs
  • Valid Driver's license and clean driving record


WORKING CONDITIONS



  • May work with contained hazardous materials.
  • Regular exposure to weather conditions
  • Roof work, use of ladders and lifts
  • Climbing, bending, extended periods of walking and standing
  • Some heavy lifting and moving of equipment required


SALARY RANGE:



  • $60,000 - $65,000 Annually
