Description General Position Overview This advanced shipping position is for an experienced shipper with administrative skills and the ability to back up the Shipping Team Leader. You may be on your feet packing and shipping orders, performing administrative tasks, putting away or refilling stock, problem solving shipment related issues, or a blend of these and other tasks throughout most days. The successful individual will have a working knowledge of Office 365, professional communication skills, a good general knowledge of transportation and logistics, understanding of best practices in packing and shipping, and excellent observation and coaching skills to assist other team members achieve department expectations. You will train on Export and Trade Compliance in order to support our international customers and provide backup to our Export Specialist, and you will support a variety of customers including OEM's who require specific process such as custom labels and ASN's. - Demonstrates SoundOff Signal's Core Values in daily interactions with internal and external customers.
Primary Shipping Functions:
- Effectively plan and coordinate large shipments.
- Prepare shipments by assembling, packing, protecting, and labeling boxes to company, customer, and regulatory standards.
- Palletize shipments that minimize potential for transit damage while optimizing cubic density and cost.
- Accurately follow detailed customer requirements, for example Automotive or Retail customers.
- Safely and creatively pack non-standard items.
- Complete all tasks with a high level of quality and accuracy.
- Proficient at operating department equipment
- Identify and/or create needed labels and documents.
- Create Bills of Lading, schedule pickups, load trucks, send ASN's.
- Put away incoming finished goods and organize stock.
Administrative and Lead Backup:
- Review open orders and create shippers.
- Troubleshoot and problem solve as needed to achieve goals.
- Coordinate OEM expedite shipments.
- Review order notes, execute and/or coach others as needed, or problem solve as needed.
- Observe department personnel, leading and coaching to meet department expectations in the absence of Shipping Team Leader.
Support customer service and scheduling:
- Prompt response to, and resolution of, change requests, including:
- Service level, product, or address changes
- Drop in orders and order cancellations.
- Partial or complete shipment determination.
- Communicating shortages, delays, or any other matters that adversely affect on-time shipments.
- Able to perform job consistently without excessive absenteeism or tardiness.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Required to work shift hours (Monday-Thursday, 3:00pm-1:00am) with occasional overtime
Requirements
- High school diploma. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Two (2) or more years related experience, strongly preferred.
- Precise, strong attention to detail, highly organized, effective time management, and able to multitask.
- Dependable, self-motivated, self-controlled, deadline oriented, persistent, and independent.
- General administrative knowledge and experience preferred.
- Professional, energetic, helpful and encouraging.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Made2Manage experience helpful.
- Knowledge of shipping terms and practices, including export basics, is helpful.
- Maintain calm in urgent situations to problem solve issues with due diligence and reasonable care.
- Construct professional documents, letters, email messages, etc.
- Forklift or other industrial lift truck as needed
