Position Title: Superintendent I

Division: Advancia Remediation Services

Location: Boise, ID

Position Summary

The Superintendent I will include working with Project Managers to manage all on-site project scopes of work, prepare 3-week look ahead schedules that include utilization of both equipment and manpower. Leadership in the continuous improvement of methodology, tools and approaches using fundamentals of project management. Represent to the client and other on-sight management professionalism, great communication skills, and correspondence in both hand-written and typed text for daily/weekly reporting.

Train and support Forman and Crew members in their abilities to direct, manage, supervise, work with and coordinate the activities of the various trade groups and Subcontractors on the site to meet the work requirements as required by the project. Responsibilities include coordinating with the Project Manager that the work progresses according to the schedule, that materials and equipment are delivered to the site on time, that the subcontractor(s) are on the project when required and progress in accordance with the schedule, and that the activities of the various workers do not interfere with one another. The General Superintendent will normally work with the Superintendent to manage the tools needed and assist with the coordination between the subcontractor(s), in-house workforce and material suppliers. The General Superintendent will make certain that ALL work being completed under the Project Superintendent is done in a safe manner. Superintendent will be required to travel to projects and remain on-site on a consistent basis for the duration of projects from startup to successful completion during critical project timelines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate with Forema to ensure their scopes of work meet the schedule.

  • Follow up that the material, subcontractor(s) and supplier's requirements needed by the Superintendent have been coordinated with the Project Manager.

  • Inspect the Superintendent's jobsite and the work of each trade and confirm that not only the quality of the work is up to standard, but that the work is being built in accordance with the plans and specification on a scheduled site visit.

  • Ensure that communication between the Client and Project Manager for the project maintains the required schedule by organizing, planning, monitoring, and inspecting work.

  • Analyze and address daily progress reports for work performed and completed by the Foreman and site crew.

  • Check that the entire on-site crew maintains and enforces safety regulations and building code requirements.

  • Coordinate weekly safety meeting topics for the crew with in-house trade staff and subcontractor(s).

  • Capability to step in to cover for vacations and/or required crew training.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years Heavy Civil Construction experience.

  • Minimum 10 years Federal Contractor experience

  • Experience in varied Heavy Civil types of projects

  • Specialized knowledge in heavy equipment utilization and application

  • Knowledge of applicable codes and regulations

  • 30 hr OSHA certification

  • Proficiency in Microsoft computer applications

  • High attention to detail and quality workmanship

  • Strong Client communication skills

  • Ability to teach the processes required by a Project Superintendent

Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands

  • Field conditions prevail: General Superintendents perform some work in office trailer or home office; the remainder of work required is performed outdoors or at the project location.
